Recommended Posted November 8, 2025 on Steam I've played all three and I will say, Amanda 3 is a good game; but it feels sort of...incomplete? I will always be of the opinion that the first Amanda game is the best, there's just so much more content in it in comparison to 2 & 3. If you love the Amanda games and the story then I'm sure you will be happy with this game, but it's very very short. I managed to 100% the entire game in about 5 hours, where as 2 took me around 7 hours. Granted, the first one only took me close to 3 hours, but that's purely because I already had seen the full gameplay and was basically speed-running it. If I had played it through blind, it would've probably taken me at least 10 hours or so to 100%. The main issue I take with this game is honestly just the amount of content in the game, as well as the ending feeling kind of rushed. For comparison, Amanda 1 has 5 endings, Amanda 2 had technically 3 endings, and Amanda 3 has 2 endings (although you could argue 4 if you count deaths, but I personally don't). The true ending to the first game left so much mystery, and the overall content was sooooo much more. Whereas in Amanda 3, there are barely any typing sections, far less normal and secret tapes, less clicking on things in the tapes to get a reaction out of Amanda or Wooly, and waaaaaay less puzzles. I'm really hoping that they decide to update the game with more, or release a DLC because the game just feels lackluster in comparison to the last 2 games; and In my opinion Amanda 2 was already starting to feel very different and a bit more lackluster on the actual gameplay in comparison to Amanda 1. I know some may disagree with that, but to me it felt kinda like a step down, or rather a step in the wrong direction. Like they sort of decided to pivot, and hard focus onto the storyline, rather than all the secrets and gameplay. Now this isn't to say Amanda 3 is a BAD game, it's not BAD by any means. I do like that some theories have been confirmed as far as the story goes, and we have some answers to stuff. The overall puzzles aren't super difficult, but most of them aren't super easy either. I like the addition of the ClownBot that you can use as a hint system, I find it to be a lot easier to understand in comparison to Amanda 2's system with the copy machines. I still did enjoy this game, which is why I'm not giving it a negative review. But I feel like the franchise had so much potential, and in a way they ended up with this game having the resolution to the plotline, feeling VERY unresolved. Even if you get the True Ending, the story at large still feels unresolved; which is very unfortunate since this game is meant to be the conclusion to the series. Really, I just hold out hope they do a bit more with this game, or heck, at least a spinoff or something? Something to bring the story to a satisfying end because there are so many mysteries that are left completely unanswered, and with really not much to go off of in this game, they may never be if this is really the end of the series. Regardless, as disappointed as a currently am with how they've decided to end the story, I still love this series, and I still do recommend playing the game if you also love this series. -
Not recommended Posted November 7, 2025 on Steam Honestly a disappointing ending with zero substance and no meaning. i never write reviews, but this game was so bad it tarnished everything they tried to do in the first two games. what starts as a mystery, ends as a mystery. no answers, no closure. just "hey, you found her, congrats". wouldnt recommend. just watch one of the 2 hour full playthroughs that were posted before the game even launched. you wont miss anything. -
Recommended Posted November 9, 2025 on Steam This was a lot of fun to play and definitely worth it for the introductory sale price! I played the trilogy, and loved Amanda from the get go. She was interesting in the first and second games, and by the third, she sort of changes from a horror figure to someone who needs saving.. now you'd always felt sorry and wished to help her because she's a child, but in the 3rd game, her horror as a character is almost gone, EXCEPT for a scene or two towards the end that are very chilling at her spooky, low-lit birthday party. And it's a-okay that her horror is removed, because another character becomes the central horror... The landscape is what we're used to with Amanda games, an office-type setting with traps and tools and toys to explore, where you'll do the puzzle work. I'm terrible at puzzles, and had a lot of trouble in 2, but these were much easier for me and quicker to get through for replays if you're an achievement hunter. There's sassy office posters littering the walls, which I love, and a room full of cryogenic pods that looks like something straight out of Deus Ex Machina, it was awesome!! Give it a try, for sure, but play the first 2 first, so you can keep up with the story! And speaking of the story, I'd have loved even more in this series, I was able to finish the game in about 3 hours and it's perfectly paced for the price but I'd have paid thrice as much for thrice as long & more lore and story and creepy children's show animations! -
Not recommended Posted November 7, 2025 on Steam I spent more time on the second game than the third game and it felt pretty unsatisfying as an ending. feels like a lot of things weren't really planned from the start and don't line up with what happens in previous games. I played through all these games with a friend and we were both kinda left confused with this last one on a lot of the decisions made. Overall not that good. -
Not recommended Posted November 10, 2025 on Steam All the problems of AtA2 are even worse in AtA3. Every section is so linear that it feels like every bit of exploration, trial and error and sense of adventure was sucked out in favour of pushing out 2 half-assed games while the hype fire was still burning.
The lore comes out to be a discount SCP style laboratory esque-story and it just feels super rushed. The ending included, it feels insanely rushed and not really that thought out in the end. The entire story that has been building up for 3 games just gets shut and "answered" in a really unsatisfying way accompanied with a single minute cutscene. (I'm not even joking, the credits are longer than the ending lol)
If you want to experience Amanda, just play the first game and leave it at that. It had the most amount of (actual) content and best puzzles in the entire series, but most importantly IT RESPECTED THE PLAYERS TIME. -
Not recommended Posted November 9, 2025 on Steam I officially think the first game was a fluke. About 6 months ago, I played the first 2 games in the Amanda the Adventurer series. I was honestly surprised by how much I enjoyed the first game, but the second game left a very disappointing taste in my mouth to the point where I wrote a short critique for it. I ended that review expressing my pessimism at the announcement of the third installment, but nevertheless, I promised to play it when it came out. Now that it's out and I've played it, I'm sad to say that my pessimism was not misplaced, because I actually think I enjoyed this slightly less than the second game. The voice actors still do the best job they possibly can, but I feel like the "Kid's show feel" from the first two games is mostly gone here, since most of the tapes just consist of Amanda and Wooly getting into arguments, and not even funny arguments like the second game, and it just gets insufferable after a while. As for the atmosphere, I would like to apologize about what I said about the second game's atmosphere, because the third game's atmosphere is even blander. I've already talked about what made the first game's atmosphere work in the ATA2 Review, and while I think ATA2's atmosphere is mostly uninteresting, I think it did some moderately okay things with it's environment. There's a section in the second game where all of the lights shut off and you have to grab a nightlight, and you hear heavy footsteps right behind you all the while, I think it was a really effective moment. Amanda the Adventurer 3 takes place in a generic office building, yippee. It has all of the atmosphere of a peanut. Amanda 3 also brings back yet another problem from Amanda 2; the linearity. You get a tape, complete the puzzle surrounding it, and proceed, that's it. There are 2 different endings this time, or rather a variation of the only ending in the game, so basically there's only one ending again, great. Amanda the Adventurer 3 is also by far one of the easiest puzzle games I've ever played, the game literally tells you when you have to pause the tapes and gives you some of the most blatantly obvious puzzles you can imagine, they practically scream the answers at you as you're playing it. This adds to how generally boring this game is, sometimes when you beat a puzzle, Amanda will literally recap the exact puzzle you literally just did mere moments ago for literally no reason. As for the story, I'm lost. I genuinely don't have a clue about what's happening anymore. There's something about satanic rituals, trapping people in tapes and two monsters battling each other to the death I think? I honestly damn near zoned out near the end of this game, and I really don't care. I'm actively bored writing this review right now. If there's any points I can give ATA3; I already mentioned that the voice actors do a good job, the game doesn't have any bugs that I saw unlike the last game, the last puzzle with the candles was actually pretty good, and was the only one that was actually fun to solve, and I liked the possum dude I guess. Also honorable mention to that one jumpscare in one of the tapes that actually got me, but only because I zoned out and wasn't paying attention. ATA2 & ATA3 deeply disappoint me. I know mascot horror is already a controversial genre of video games, but I do believe that you can make a good mascot horror game, it's just that most of them happen to suck. And Amanda the Adventurer 1 was absolutely one of the good ones. It wasn't perfect, but it had a solid atmosphere, some pretty solid puzzles, and a ominous and mysterious feel to it, something that the second game barely has and the third game doesn't have at all. Thankfully, I can still recommend the first game. Since it's the first installment, it can be enjoyed as a standalone mystery, and you don't have to interact with it's sequels at all. This is supposedly the last game in the series, and seeing how it turned out, perhaps that's for the best.
