• Recommended Posted August 8, 2025 on Steam Honestly didn’t expect much from this. Thought it was just another flashy Soulslike that looks good in trailers and plays mid. But man… I was wrong. A few hours in and I’m completely hooked. The combat is super tight, the atmosphere pulls you in, and the boss fights? Absolute bangers. I’ve played Elden Ring, God of War, all that and this holds up. Maybe even better in some ways. You can tell the devs poured everything into it. The way they showcase their mythology, the world-building, the details… it’s not just a game, it’s a love letter to their culture. As I said , didn’t expect much, but it ended up being something special. You can feel the heart behind it.
• Recommended Posted September 18, 2025 on Steam As an older gamer I had an aversion to 'souls-like' games because the old eye/hand co-ordination slows but I was an avid Journey to the West reader and even bigger watcher of the Monkey T.V. show and I really wanted to try it. It can be challenging but not impossible to beat if, like me, you're almost 60 yrs old. It really is fun and satisfying when you finally beat that boss giving you trouble.
• Recommended Posted July 2, 2025 on Steam Its been 3 month since playing my third play-through and I am already asking myself if I should go back and play again.Some of my favorite bosses of all time. The boss Yellow is my favorite even though it was THE HARDEST. It felt so satisfying when finally beating him. Game feel and sound effect is S tier!! In my 30 years of playing video games this is top tier stuff. AMAZING GAME!!!
• Recommended Posted February 13, 2026 on Steam The story might seem weird to us Westerners, but it's actually the coolest thing ever. It's a myth, so don't take it literally. The Chinese monkey travelling West towards India symbolizes the spiritual journey of all sentient beings. It's a journey towards Enlightenment, man. The monsters and boss battles represent the poisons of the mind (attachments and negative emotions) that we all have to overcome in order to not be douchebags in our lives. Most of us fail this quest IRL, but we can still enjoy a well crafted adventure like Wukong. If you like Buddhism, you will love Wukong for how it turns deep philosophical concepts into artistic, visually stunning set pieces and boss battles. If you couldn't care less about Buddhism, you can still enjoy the game as a great action adventure in a cool fantasy world.
