Command & Conquer: Generals is a legendary game — but this version is a [b]disgrace[/b]. Bought it in 2025. RTX 3060. Clean install. The game crashes instantly with a fake “[i]DirectX 8.1[/i]” error — a known issue for over [b]10 YEARS[/b]. Zero fixes from EA, zero updates, [u]zero warnings[/u] on the store page. You have to: [list] [*]Dig through community forums [*]Download unofficial wrappers [*]Inject DLLs manually [*]Patch the game outside Steam [/list] ...just to get it to not crash. And even then, [b]it still fails for many users[/b]. [b]No modern GPU support. No native multiplayer. No maintenance. No excuses.[/b] This isn’t just laziness — [b]it’s deception[/b]. Steam shouldn’t allow this garbage to be sold in 2025. The store page should have a giant red warning: [code] ⚠️ Does not run on modern systems without third-party hacks. [/code] [b]Shameful.[/b] EA knew. Steam knew. And they still cashed in. [u]Avoid this broken release.[/u]

  • Recommended Posted November 24, 2025 on Steam To unlock fps in the game and and significantly speed up the campaign, write "-nofpslimit" in the Steam startup properties. Then, lock it at your preferred value using RTSS (MSI Afterburner). Best value for me was 50 FPS, which is around 1.7x the game's speed
