Recommended Posted June 8, 2025 on Steam If you're looking for a game where you can punch demons in the face, surf on shotgun shells, and headbang to heavy metal while doing it — DOOM is your new best friend. Performance? Smoother than a buttered-up chainsaw. Graphics? Totally solid — not mind-blowing, but hey, you’re too busy splattering hellspawn to care. Now let’s talk about enemies: these suckers are freaky, fun, and full of attitude. Special shoutout to my boy Pinky — big, angry, and dumb as bricks. Love that guy. The story’s there if you want it, but let’s be honest: you’re here to smash demons, not read a novel. And the game respects that; You don’t play DOOM for deep thoughts. You play it to turn demons into red mist. Now the maps? Huge, layered, and loaded with secrets. You’re not just running hallways — you’re leaping across platforms, unlocking hidden rooms, and hunting collectibles. Every level is like a violent puzzle box with blood and metal. There’s even fast travel at the end of every level so you can go back and grab what you missed. Verticality, exploration, and brutal combat arenas — it's all here. It’s fast. It’s loud. It’s metal. Highly recommended for anyone who thinks therapy should involve explosions. -
Recommended Posted July 27, 2025 on Steam After 9 years, what more can I say about this masterpiece that hasn’t already been said? DOOM (2016) is a masterclass in how to reboot a beloved franchise. The gunplay is incredibly tight, weighty, and satisfying. The introduction of Glory Kills was a brilliant design choice; they’re fast, brutal, and perfectly complement the game’s intense pacing. The gore system hits the sweet spot, reinforcing the fantasy of being an unstoppable demon slayer. id Software absolutely nailed that core experience. The Mars setting was a smart and effective choice. Most areas are crafted with care, featuring impressive detail and strong atmosphere. I especially enjoyed the inclusion of hidden areas, secrets, and collectibles that reward players for going off the main path. It adds extra engagement without straying from the game's linear structure. The story is simple and wisely kept in the background, which suits DOOM's tone perfectly. That said, Samuel Hayden stood out as a particularly memorable character. His voice actor, Darin De Paul, delivered a powerful performance that added some unexpected depth. Even though narrative isn’t the focus, the world-building and presentation are excellent. Enemy design is varied and memorable across the board. The boss fights, while a bit easy even on higher difficulties, are still fun and well-executed. This isn’t meant to be a punishing or methodical game like Dark Souls.it’s all about speed, power, and chaos. I’m genuinely looking forward to trying DOOM: The Dark Ages and seeing how the new parry system plays into that formula. And then there’s the music. Mick Gordon, you’re an absolute legend. The soundtrack doesn’t just set the tone; it fuels every encounter with raw energy. It’s like a shot of adrenaline that pushes the action into overdrive. I’m not someone who typically listens to music in my free time, but these tracks grabbed my attention from the start. I played them so often my sister decided to learn the main theme on her electric guitar, and hearing her practice it is genuinely awesome. The only part of the game I didn’t enjoy was the multiplayer. The modes become repetitive quickly, Demon Runes are far too overpowered, and certain weapon combos (like double shotguns) are frustrating to deal with. Cosmetic unlocks require a long and unrewarding grind, which just adds to the frustration. Matchmaking is also an issue outside of peak hours. Since few people play during those times, I often have to switch to North American or Asian servers, and that causes lag and high ping due to the distance. It really takes away from the experience. Despite that, DOOM (2016) stands as one of the best first-person shooters of its generation. id Software approached this reboot with confidence and respect for the series. I strongly recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed the classic DOOM titles or is simply looking for a fast-paced, high-impact shooter done right. Skip the multiplayer and jump straight into the campaign. You won’t regret it. -
Recommended Posted January 10, 2026 on Steam Been hearing the hype about this game for the past decade & finally figured I'd check it out. Doom 2016 feels like such a breath of fresh air in 2026 at a time when live-service games and FOMO tactics are rampant in all of the top titles on the market. I grew up in the 2000s and early 2010s on single-player and co-op story campaigns in games and this feels like such a throwback to that simple but proven formula. No microtransactions, no battlepasses, and no seasonal content to grind or chase. Just a solid game all on it's own with secrets to explore, a story that you can take or leave, and combat that makes you scream "HELL YEAH"! I never played the OG Doom games, but this feels like such a great refresh that respects what came before. If you are like me and wanting to enjoy games just on their own again, I'd strongly recommend picking this up! -
