Forager

Forager

Forager is the popular crafting, exploration and base building game that can best be defined as “the idle game that you want to actively keep playing”. A quirky mix between old school 2D Zelda experiences and modern Minecraft or Terraria-like crafting games that places players into a small piece of land with just a pickaxe and a desire for expansion and exploration. Players can buy procedurally generated lands to uncover secrets, solve puzzles, find dungeons, treasure and forgotten relics and to expand their sprawling bases. Nearly impossible to put down, there is always something to manage or work towards!

• Not recommended Posted November 3, 2025 on Steam It was a good game, but the main dev got greed. Just to make it clear, this is NOT a solo dev game. No matter what the (narcissistic) comic tells you. There was a team working on the game, that quit due to being underpaid. And because of that, it have now been years since the last update. The progression is a mess, lots of bugs and missing QoL. Such a shame, if only the main dev have common sense.
• Not recommended Posted October 8, 2025 on Steam Developers did not follow roadmap. It is an abandoned game.
• Not recommended Posted December 12, 2025 on Steam Used to love this game till the dev decided to stop paying his people and gave up on the game because "making multiplayer too hard". Just fled from the internet after that. ♥♥♥♥ you Hopfrog.
• Not recommended Posted February 19, 2026 on Steam Cute and full of satifying sounds and animations. Can't say anything more about the good parts, though. What's so bad about this game? Well, the biggest offender is the lack of optimisation. You'll start noticing it when you get to the mid-to-late game, where you have a lot of structures, in a game about building a lot of structures. The game is also very grindy. I know I signed up for grind the moment I booted a base building game with resources and a skill tree system, but it actually starts reaching "unfun chore" levels later on (which, hey, probably would've gone by at least a little faster if the game didn't run at half speed due to aforementioned optimisation issues). Finally - bugs. There are quite a few of them, they are not that hard to encounter, and some can even lead to softlocks or making certain content permanently unavailable. This game could've been something great... if the lead dev didn't cancel the promised updates out of the blue, underpay their workers and throw them under the bus by blaming them for the game's shortcomings.
• Recommended Posted November 25, 2025 on Steam Do not let the discount fool you. This game hasn't been updated or anything has been said by the developer for the past 5 years.
• Not recommended Posted March 31, 2026 on Steam I really tried to like Forager, but the way the dev lied to everyone and abandoned this game will forever leave a bad taste.
