• Not recommended Posted August 31, 2025 on Steam Imagine being tricked into buying something for split-screen as the series has always had it and was advertised to have it here to be changed last second to prevent a worse review bombing. Do your job and add it in as it was supposed to be here. Don't ask for pre-orders then change what I'm buying later. I don't want a fake nice response from someone copying and pasting for me to go to xbox support. Just add split-screen. Gears is one of THE BEST series to play in split-screen
• Not recommended Posted August 27, 2025 on Steam 1: The trailer on steam advertised split-screen coop until about 6 hours after launch. This video was edited to exclude that part of the trailer after launch when the review bombing began. False advertisement gets an automatic thumbs down. 2: Keybinds are a mess. m/k cant set the same binds as controller players. 3: Changing graphics settings causes a bootloop which requires manually deleting game files to fix. This game had a beta. Even with FREE game testing labor, they still managed to have a common bug causing a bootloop? I wish I could give another thumbs down. 4: I'll be back when Gears 1, 2, and 3 get released on PC as a package without any of the aforementioned bull ****. Give me back my money.
• Not recommended Posted September 15, 2025 on Steam I love this game but seriously man I'm sick of split-screen being removed from PC ports so I can't leave this game a positive review. This game is amazing but despite that its embarrassing how glitches still can happen on a title that's been released 3 times now. I can't even get this game to launch without crashing multiple times first and when it does it launches in windowed mode for some reason and funnily enough that gives the game another chance to crash since the game starts to tweak out sometimes if you switch back to full-screen or change resolutions. Even then, I can overlook all of those dumb bugs just because of how fun this game is but I can't forgive removing split-screen especially when this game was initially advertised with the promise of having it on PC. It's really sad too because surprisingly this game runs like a gem on the steam deck but there isn't even really a reason to play it on the deck because there is no couch co-op.
• Not recommended Posted December 23, 2025 on Steam Requires sign in to a Microsoft account. This sign in does not save and will be required frequently. Also requires constant internet connection for single player use, and any disruption of microsoft servers, as is currently happening, will lock you out. Poorly thought out, poorly made port.
• Not recommended Posted August 27, 2025 on Steam No split screen coop even tho it was advertised. It seems they have coincidentally removed any mention of it from the Steam store page as of 13 days ago. And more recently, changing the original announcement video on Steam to a shorter, 30 second version of the announcement trailer. Conveniently, this new video also leaves out the shot from the original trailer that advertised "SPLIT SCREEN COOP" in big words. Runs great on Deck atleast.
• Not recommended Posted August 30, 2025 on Steam I bought this with the premise that it will have local co-op, as it was something they highlighted when the game was announced. I wasn't careful and didn't notice the local co-op was removed when I bought the game. It was only when a friend asked me to verify that I confirmed. Good thing I hadn't played it too long and was able to request a refund. I will reconsider buying the game if/when local co-op is re-added to the PC version.
