Recommended Posted September 6, 2025 on Steam Okay, I need people who are looking to buy it to understand one thing - THIS IS NOT A SOULSLIKE. DO NOT BUY IT THINKING THAT COMBAT IS THE CORE PART OF GAMEPLAY! You have combat here, sure, but combat here is like driving in GTA - a thing to do while you're not doing something else. Hence it is very easy. There are no bonfires, no character level ups, no souls you collect. Most of the time you spend solving puzzles and exploring the world. The game is about mystery first and foremost, and you need to understand it before you jump in. The world and characters is the main driving force here, you find items, you read documents, you figure out which items go where, you trade items with characters, and in between doing that you might kill an enemy or two. Game does become a bit harder as you progress, but as long as you don't leave the map you're exploring - enemies do not respawn. If you encounter a pack of 5 enemies and kill 4 of them, after which you're killed, you will respawn and you'll have to defeat only 1 enemy. It's weird, it's unique, it works incredibly well (aside for rare traversal stutter). Easy recommend. -
Recommended Posted September 16, 2025 on Steam I absolutely loved this game. The atmosphere and story are fantastic, and the combat difficulty feels just right, not too easy, not too hard. I really enjoyed the focus on investigation, solving puzzles, and piecing things together from documents and enviroment clues. The minimalist interface, with only the compass, makes you think like in the old days instead of just following markers like a sheep from point A to B. I like the lore and in which way they told it to the player. The inmersion and history was really great but It would have been nice to see a bit more variety in enemies, but overall I had a great time and highly recommend it. I want more! -
Recommended Posted April 20, 2026 on Steam Incredible atmosphere and worldbuilding. The combat is simple, yet effective, but definitely not the main focus of the team. Instead, most of their efforts (or that's the impression I have) went into creating a perfect blend between a realistic setting, and a very compelling sci-fi story. The game is also technically sound, with no glitches or bugs whatsoever in 40h of gameplay. Since the game lacks a map, quest markers and such, I've been taking notes on paper the whole time, and I've really enjoyed the experience. Creating my own to-do lists as I explored, and then crossing things as I solved puzzles and uncovered parts of the story has been, on ocassion, a cathartic experience. A warning, though: the game depicts quite accurately the horrors of war. If games like This war of mine or similar settings are too harsh of an experience for you, this will be unbearable as well. Topics like torture, genocide or sexual violence are present in the story. TL;DR: Excellent narrative, exploration and puzzles. The atmosphere is impecable. The combat is a good add-on to the experience, but lacks a bit of depth towards the second half of the game. Unless this is the only thing that caught your attention, I'm sure you'll love the game <3 -
Recommended Posted December 19, 2025 on Steam It pains me that this game is not better received, but I can see why. I’ll start with the positives. Pros: - The strongest point is without a doubt the writing. Excellent. Although not a masterpiece, it is still very, very high-class writing. - Next are the visuals. Although the game starts with misty forests and marshes, it quickly shows great potential for beauty and awe-inspiring panoramas. - Voice acting follows closely. Every single line is fully voiced, and there wasn’t a single jarring performance. Everyone feels like a victim of the circumstances. - Noteworthy examples are the little girl hiding in the wreck of a house and the teacher who regretted her participation in the lynching of her own students. Chills. - The creatures' design is truly fantastic, and right until the end they gave me goosebumps with the way they move and screech. - If exploration was a nail this game would be the hammer that hits it! I couldn't stop myself until I checked every single millimeter from the game. - Who would know that the combination of civil warn torn country by a millennial conflict and the souls-like genre would make a great game!? Cons: - Puzzles tend to be tedious. - Due to the puzzles, there is a lot of traveling from zone to zone, and the loading screens stack up fast—especially if you use no guides and are on the dumb side like me. - Only 5 types of enemies - I understand why - I just think there where ways out of this. - No bosses - and I cant stress this enough. At first I thought that was a deliberate choice in order to keep us grounded in the conflict and what the story was pushing for, but right at the end it shows you that this is not the case. This game could have been a GOTY contender if it had well designed boss fights. - No leveling - only armor and weapon upgrades - another choice I thought it was in order to keep us grounded but in fact it was bad and worked against the story telling. A whole squad of well trained solders gets wiped by 3 or 4 of the creatures but the MC comes and wipes a whole forest full of them with no problems?! Okay he has special weapons but still - sounds like plot armor. He had that medallion from the beginning with obviously otherworldly origin - why not let him get stronger through it? Would have been great mechanic and story point! - The MC is called high-functioning sociopath that doesn't feel, yet every single one of his choices is emotion based. Was that just a red herring? Because emotions is why this whole story exists. I feel something got lost along the way or this was just the first draft - the writing is fantastic but such things stops it from being a masterpiece. And completely neutral point: - The game is on the easy side, but I liked that. Typically for souls like the difficulty depends on how much you explore and build yourself up so I am very satisfied with the balance. - The MC - even though telling the story - remains bland and I was genuinely interested in him Grade: Overall I am very happy I played this but it could have used couple of more years in the oven and couple of more writing drafts of the main plot line and character developments to become truly one of the greats. As it is stands it is slightly better game on the market but nothing to write home about. I truly hope the devs got at least their money back and some on top because there is a lot of work and passion in this project that deserves it. -
Recommended Posted September 4, 2025 on Steam I haven’t seen an apt portrayal of the reprehensible nature of war and the psychological toll often swept under the rug by most games since Spec Ops: The Line. This is a fascinating game that feels like a mashup of Death Stranding, Myst, and a touch of Resident Evil-style puzzles. I’m hesitant to call it a souls-like because, although combat is prevalent, it’s not the main focus. However, you can customize settings such as losing items on death or enemy difficulty if you want. The game is very narrative-driven, which some interpret as weak gameplay. However, the mystery and discovery demand a level of curiosity often missing in today’s waypoint-driven games. There’s no “go here and do this” mechanic. Instead, you’re expected to piece together what you need to do. While not exactly groundbreaking, I appreciate the direction this takes the game. You are encouraged to meander and retrace your steps. This can be frustrating for some and might be seen as a time-waster. This game is not for those people. The gameplay itself is quite solid, though don’t expect a deep variety of enemies. The focus is more on puzzles and curiosity. Dispatching enemies becomes easier over time, and the game doesn’t throw too much at you because it’s designed to complement the puzzles you need to solve. The combat adds a subtle pressure and sense of failure that underpins your investigation of the in-universe events. The narrative is excellent and resonates well with today’s climate of mindless online vitriol, spite, and other overwhelmingly negative emotions. The game isn’t violent from a combat perspective, but it is narratively. There are scenes and topics that are difficult to stomach. It lays bare the raw flotsam of the human race and explores the consequences of war and hate with a fantastic supernatural twist. I highly recommend picking this up. -
Recommended Posted February 27, 2026 on Steam this is NOT A SOULS-LIKE. this is a PUZZLE SOLVER game first and foremost. not that the combat is bad and doesn't share "souls-like" qualities, but that is not what defines a souls-like. More enemy variety is sorely needed for this to be a truly enjoyable experience past the mid-way point You will not progress in this game if you can't solve puzzles. (Or look them up ofc) leaving recommended since the overall presentation is good if you're into puzzles but don't go in expecting a dark souls type game like I was
