Recommended Posted June 11, 2025 on Steam If you're wondering how this game runs on Steam Deck, let me just tell you its a dream out of the box. It feels almost native and is a blast to play. I'm a fan of Super Hero games, and I know my hours on record is low, but because I primarily play my Steam Deck offline, the hours on record are very off, at the time of writing this review. I am about 40 hours into the game. I've played it both on my Deck and on my gaming laptop, and the game runs very well on both. I've played the Arkham trilogy and Guardians of the Galaxy, and loved both. I would say this game is closer to the Arkham trilogy in its combat and overall objectives. The open world map is Manhattan, the main island that makes up New York City. The map is littered with little things for you to do, such as fighting criminals, taking pictures of landmarks, both real and part of the Marvel universe, and scientific stations where you complete an optional task. The more you progress in the game, the more things you unlock on the map. And I have not felt that anything was tedious to get, as I've cleared everything on the map up to this point. The story is very interesting, the voice acting is great, it's very fun to swing around the city, even though fast travel is an option, I do find myself swinging about 70% of the time. I would recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of Spider-Man and a fan of Marvel. Even to anyone who loves open world games. Edit: Coming back to my review after 100% the game and it's DLCs. Still strongly recommend it if you're into super hero or open world games. Ran great the whole time on my Steam Deck. Does drain the battery though, but that's to be expected. -
Recommended Posted March 30, 2026 on Steam It's the only game I barely ever used the fast-travel. The web-swinging in this game is THAT good. -
Recommended Posted November 27, 2025 on Steam Going to start by saying you don't need to know a thing about Spider-Man to enjoy this. My previous knowledge was memes and hearing friends talk about it. I still loved this. It's been a long time since I had this much fun in a game! I pretty much no lifed this since I couldn't put it down. The story is really good and easy to follow, even for those not versed in the Marvel universe (like me) There might be some references that could be missed but it really doesn't take too much away from the story when you don't know what you're missing. There's some really likable and well written characters and the dialogue is pretty solid. They also hired some great voice actors for this that make the characters feel more like real people. The parkour in this is probably my favourite of any game that I've played. Quite a few of my hours are just me web slinging around and enjoying the view (Speaking of view, it also has a great photo mode to catch some cool screenshots) It feels really responsive for the most part, though it can be annoying trying to change direction on a wall if you're scaling it. The rest feels great though. Combat is fantastic in my humble opinion. It's not a mash this button over and over but there's different moves to enjoy as you kick the bad guys asses. Lots of fun gadgets to enjoy and switch up the combat and make that combo rise. It can take a little bit of learning (not too much) but it feels so satisfying when it clicks and you're pretty much untouchable in some encounters with the combat flow. As a 100% this was an absolute blast! There are collectibles but they're all listed on the map and with the web slinging, they're a lot of fun to get to. Nothing is missable and you can even continue after the final quest for clean up. Side quests are fun and I'd recommend doing them, even if you aren't a completionist. DLC's were also quite fun to go through, though I did feel in it that I was missing some context from not knowing about the world. It's easy to fill in the gaps for the most part though. I'm already excited to dive into the 2nd one. -
Recommended Posted September 26, 2025 on Steam Even now in 2025, this game is still a great experience. The gameplay obviously feels dated compared to its sequels, but swinging through the city is still very fun. The graphics still holds up well (the city is very detailed). The story is easily the most impactful of the three in my own opinion. -
Recommended Posted December 14, 2025 on Steam
With Great Frame Rates Comes Great Responsibility
I no-lifed this game so hard. Best Spider-Man game hands down, the sequel is such a step down in terms of story, not saying it’s bad game but this game is the definitive Spider-Man experience there is and ever will be. Apart from the great story, combat and more, this game is worth buying just to swing around the city. One of the only games where I would much rather just naturally get to my destination than fast travel, web slinging feels that AMAZING!!
The Good Stuff 🕷️
🕸Web-swinging remains pure joy. You don’t travel in this game, you dance with gravity. 🕸Combat is fast, stylish, and surprisingly deep with tricks once things get spicy. 🕸The story absolutely gets Spider-Man. Emotional, funny, heroic, and better than some of the movies. 🕸Ray-traced reflections + higher resolution = New York looks ridiculously good, especially at sunset. 🕸Ultrawide support makes swinging feel cinematic in a “why am I not in a movie right now” way.
The Nitpick?
🕸Some open-world busywork and puzzles still feel like filler and couldn't be more insufferable. 🕸The new Peter Parker face is just meh. Older one had better and more mature expressions.
The Best Part
You get all the DLC included. Catwoman and Silver Sable for the win. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3617680216 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3620240269 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3616701321 -
Recommended Posted February 28, 2026 on Steam For someone who grew up playing Spider Man 2 on the GameCube and being completely blown away by the simple act of web slinging, this felt like that childhood magic fully realized. The moment you start swinging through Manhattan it just clicks. Pure bliss. Traversal is easily the star of the show it’s one of the most intuitive and satisfying movement systems ever put into an open world game. Swinging, diving, wall running it all flows together seamlessly. You don’t just move across the city you feel like Spider Man. It sets a new standard for superhero mobility. Combat is impactful and responsive, clearly inspired by the Batman Arkham series, but with its own acrobatic twist. Hits land with weight, gadgets add creativity, and chaining together aerial combos feels fantastic. That said, the core melee can become repetitive toward the endgame. Without mixing in gadgets and environmental tools, fights can start to feel a bit samey. When you do use the full toolkit, though, combat becomes far more dynamic and enjoyable. Stealth is present and functional, but it doesn’t quite reach the heights of the Arkham games. Close quarters stealth especially feels slightly stiff, with movement lacking the precision needed for consistently smooth predator style encounters. It tries to replicate that formula, but doesn’t fully match its execution. The story is solid and emotionally driven, the performances particularly Peter and certain major antagonists are strong, and the narrative has some genuinely powerful moments. However, it can feel rushed in places. Several villains are introduced and quickly positioned as threats without much buildup. For longtime comic fans who already know the backstories, that may not matter. But for players whose knowledge comes mostly from the films, it can feel a bit abrupt and underdeveloped. My biggest complaint is being forced to play as Mary Jane and Miles in certain segments. While they aim to vary the pacing and expand the narrative perspective, the gameplay in those sections feels shallow compared to playing as Spider Man himself. They disrupt the flow rather than enhance it. That said, the overall experience is just incredibly enjoyable. The collectibles are meaningful and well integrated into traversal, making 100% completion genuinely fun rather than tedious. It’s one of the few games I fully completed on PS4, and I’m already planning to do it again since i've finished the main story and side content on PC. The DLC is also pretty dope.
