Move or Die

Move or Die

20 seconds, constantly changing mechanics and a lot of yelling. These are the keywords that perfectly describe a round of Move or Die, the 4-player friendship ruining party game where rules change every single round. Slap your friends’ controllers out of their hands while playing on the same couch, challenge players online from around the world or pretend to practice offline with AI bots. Select what game modes you want to play from an ever-growing list of developer and community-generated modes, each with their own outrageous mechanics and level design crafted to promote hours of good old friendship-ruining fun. Play online to gain XP and level up, unlocking awesome characters and game modes in the process, or try to work your way up the daily challenge leader boards where players go against AI bots in survival-like matches. As its name suggests, Move or Die forces players to take action. In fact, not moving literally makes your character explode. And, with just 20 seconds per round, Move or Die is a quick game to pick up, but a hard one to put down.

  • Not recommended Posted December 27, 2025 on Steam Move or die is party game that could be so much better but was ultimately mishandled by the developers and in this Review I recommend against the game in its current state. :3 Unlike most party games move or die for some unholy reason requires that you must grind the hell out of the game to unlock the fun. Every game you play you can level up by playing rounds and if you earn enough points you will win, you can also change how many points is needed to win a game. When you complete a game you will get xp and if you fill up the xp bar it will earn you a loot box and this gives you a random item which can be: Cosmetic, Game mode, or mutator, you also earn in-game currency from getting xp, which you can also use to unlock cosmetics, game modes, and mutators consistently. The problem with this progression system is that the grind is way to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ long for normal people, I'm, at level 270 from 100 hours and I have yet to get a single Legendary item from levelling up because it's very rare, and you also get duplicates from the Loot Boxes so it's even more rare! However, when you play games and earn xp you also get coins and you also get coins from duplicates, and these coins can be used in the Not-A-Store which is an in-game store that allows you to spend coins on cosmetics, Game modes, and Mutators. This means that the best and consistent way to unlock all the modes and mutators would be from coins, right? Well wrong! The game modes and mutators cost way too many coins to get, you would have to play 100's of games to be able to unlock them all. Here's some quick math, I'm level 270 and have obtained 38000 coins so far, that means I could buy 3 legendary game modes, but there is 7 Legendary game modes/Mutators in the game so i would need 42000 more coins, and that would add another 100 hours to get the rest. But here’s the catch you get more coins from winning and I'm actually pretty good at this game, so I win 90% oi the time, but! If your new to the game you're probably not going to win as much so it would probably take you around 300 hours or more to get the legendary modes/mutators with coins. Also how mutators work is that they spice the game up by changing how rules work, like jumping flips gravity, or move and die (moving kills you) and every 6 rounds of a game it will spin a wheel that selects a random player and they will have 3 mutator choices that they currently have unlocked. The issue with this is that the wheel can just never pick you, and then all those legendary mutators you grinded for aren’t even used that game at all. Also, something really funny about the 6 default mutators, 2 of them are the most unfun and annoying in the game, that being Ghostly jumps and Lights Out and these just make game modes rng, and ghostly jumps also bugs out and doesn’t let people jump at all. The developers have also removed features from the game like the in-game chat and ''emote spam'' (you can only use 3 emotes until a cooldown kicks in) as a way to stop ’’toxicity’’ which is stupid as they added the chat in an update called ‘’The Toxic update’’ and in the update trailer they mention that the community asked for the chat feature, so instead of caring about the majority of the community's opinion, they instead listen to 1 guy who got upset and called a slur or something. So no more communicating with randoms anymore, rip any friendships you could have made. Also in the game trailer they advertise this game as ruining friendships, and to add on to this they also added a poop emote in the game which people use when they want to be toxic anyway. Hosting a lobby, once you host a lobby or become the host you are unable to edit the lobby settings until you exit and create a new lobby. There is many issues with this as lets say for example: You are playing with randoms and have a fully lobby and want to increase how points you need to win or to disable mutators, well you would have to leave and create a new lobby and hope that they join, I say ''hope they join'' as you can't even communicate with text chat anymore as the developers removed it so you can't tell them to join your new lobby at all. This game also has some unobtainable cosmetics currently in the game that i will list: The Dead By Daylight Cosmetics, Blight, Huntress, Trapper, Jenny, and a Scratches Trail, and Dbd Emotes. Yellow Taxi goes Vroom Cosmetics, Taxi, Morio, and a Vroom Trail. 7 Year Anniversary Cosmetics, Old Zombi, Old Derpy Chicken, Old Count, Old Viking. Every Body Love summer update Cosmetics, Cocktail Trail, ChillBill, Flo. Current Daily Contribution Cosmetics, Al Dente, icy Hot, Happy, Accuraptor, Forky, Fart Trail, Anger Trail, Atom Trail. And finally the Mawaka skin which is stupid FOMO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and this game has had other collabs with shotgun farmers and monster prom but those cosmetics were added to the in-game store so why treat other collabs differently? The game also currently has a lot of issues with crashes and the Not-A-Store being glitched for many people not letting them buy anything, or their progress being wiped. The last major update for this game was in April 2024 so take that with a grain of salt. This game also features workshop support, which is actually really cool, love when games do this, however these mods only work locally or with friends who also have the mods installed which kinda ruins it. I can understand having every player needing to subscribe to custom game modes, but why for skins, and custom levels which just add new levels for existing modes? Duck game lets you create custom skins which can be viewed by other players, and it also lets you play random internet and custom levels with random players, without having to subscribe to them in the workshop. If Move or Die had this then it would be infinitely more repayable. Also why is the move or die editor hidden in the game files? It should in the main menu, we would probably have way more workshop submissions then. Tldr: Game grind is too long, people always leave when you winning so your basically just playing with Ai, Game is currently crashing for a lot of players and their shop is bugged so they can't get any game modes or mutators, blah, blah, blah, Just Play duck game or Ultimate chicken horse instead, these are fun party games where you can just play the game and have fun instantly. Suggestions to make this game better! Here's a good solution I came up with to fix this games progression system, if the developers still want their players to have some sort of progression, They could make it so you unlock a new type of item called ''sets'' and you would get Game mode and Mutator sets every 5 levels, these ''sets'' would contain game modes and mutators of a certain rarity, with there being 8 sets total, 4 sets for game modes and 4 sets for mutators (common, rare, epic, and legendary). So, at level 40 you would have all modes and mutators unlocked. You could also make it so it's a Game mode set first, then a Mutator set, and repeat until level 40. Or make it level 45 since you unlock emotes at level 5 and that's part of the progression, and then you start getting the sets at level 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45. Personally I think this would be a way more fun and less time consuming way to unlock all the fun parts of the game, and it would help keep new players engaged and potentially keep them. The cosmetics like the Characters and Trails would still be unlocked with the level up loot boxes and Not-Coins. There might be an issue for players who are already over level 45 though and for this you could make the 'sets'' only obtainable through a 2nd level up bar (make it the colour red) and it would be capped at level 40, and for people who already have all the Game Modes/Mutators unlocked it could just give coins. Allowing the host to change lobby settings while in the lobby with other players, more server options like a mutator that's always on etc.

  • Recommended Posted January 13, 2026 on Steam If you want to ruin friendship this is the game. most lobbies have high ping for no reason but even when thats the case, its so fun.
  • Not recommended Posted October 31, 2025 on Steam This game crashes so often I cannot even join a game with friends or an online match.. it used to be only like one game mode that always crashed but I tried restarting 3 times and I literally cannot join any lobby my friend makes... Obviously do not recommend
  • Not recommended Posted February 27, 2026 on Steam I've dedicated my free time only to play this game. I loved it. I've never been more annoying-ass tryhard in any other game. I'm level +100. I've almost got every achievement. Now it's unplayable: crashes, lag mid-game, etc. The game even tells you "sorry, you're experiencing a bug and we haven't fixed yet :(". Almost no one can play it anymore, all servers are completely dead. Please update your game, it's been ages.
  • Not recommended Posted November 7, 2025 on Steam Look, the game itself is great. In fact, I would be giving this game a upstanding review right now if I was on PlayStation. But instead, I'm on Steam. So here's my new review. I have this game on PlayStation and from the get go there are hundreds of characters, all trails, game modes, and mutators are unlocked and ready to go. And when new stuff was added? You already owned it. You just get to play the game with everything and I like that because, well, it’s a party game. I just wanna play with friends, I’m not here to grind. So needless to say I was pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ confused and angry when I repurchased this game on Steam to play with online friends only to find that I have to grind the ♥♥♥♥ out of this game to even unlock just one thing since some characters that were FREE on PlayStation now cost upwards of TWENTY THOUSAND coins. It makes no sense. Why is everything free with my purchase on PlayStation, but I have to grind a party game that is only meant to be played in short sessions just to unlock some stupid characters that I ALREADY HAD. FOR FREE. No purchasing required. If they wanted to implement a shop, fine. But at least give me the stuff I already had. It's beyond idiotic to make me have to rebuy everything I already had. And don't get me started on the prices either. 21,100 coins for Pootpoot? Seriously?
