  • Recommended Posted June 28, 2025 on Steam Such a great PC classic. With the modernized graphics and new remix puzzles it's an amazing puzzle game to experience again and again. Even after all these years Myst is still an absolute blast. \ And if you have a VR headset you 100% gotta try this game out with it. Blew my mind being in Myst. Was such a crazy cool experience.
  • Recommended Posted October 3, 2025 on Steam In 1990-something, Myst was a revelation of what could be done with puzzle/exploration games, like nothing that had ever been before. 30 years later, though, the original seems painfully slow and antiquated. This remastering is the best thing to happen to the game, ever. Those who played the original will be delighted by the improvements and modernized feel of the game, which retains the charm and mystique of the classic. Those who have never played have a unique experience to look forward to, as long as they're looking for a cerebral challenge, not a point & shoot battleground. That said, either breed of player should keep a pen and paper handy. The new in-game notebook is useful, but sometimes inconvenient, since it can't be read in the middle of a puzzle; you have to back out of what you're doing in order to read. Old-school methods still have their place!
  • Not recommended Posted December 20, 2025 on Steam As a long-time Myst fan, I found this iteration to be sub-par. A lot of the richness and depth of scenery and world-building has been scaled back. Many of the hidden passages are easily noticed now. With the technology available, this could have been an amazing project, but it's less than immersive and a poor substitute for the original game and its Real Myst adaptation.
  • Recommended Posted June 17, 2025 on Steam Played this after playing Riven (2023) - I would have preferred to play this first as I think it introduces the series better as a whole. Am planning to continue to play Myst III: Exile after my experience. Positives: - Good visuals and voice acting. - Good world building, easy to immerse yourself into. - Good puzzles, nothing too over-the-top in difficulty. - Multiple endings Negatives: - The character models are a little awkward (the game is slightly older but you'll really notice it in a few of the endings) - The end of the Rime content (endgame content) ends abruptly and leaves a pretty anti-climatic way to finish the game, especially after working to solve the final puzzle of the area. Suggestions: - Make multiple manual saves to allow for back-tracking, to allow for getting 100% completion easily. You probably need multiple playthroughs regardless, but running the game a second time in randomized mode is quite easy once you know the general solutions to puzzles. - Take notes by both using the screenshot functionality and on pen and paper, refrain from looking up solutions as your notes will provide the answers once you've explored enough. Really refrain from looking up solutions until you're really stuck and make sure you've checked around areas for any buttons/levers you've missed.
  • Recommended Posted December 3, 2025 on Steam Excellent translation from the original version. Much easier to play, looks and sounds great. Puzzles are fun and aren't super difficult. I got the game on discount, I probably wouldn't pay $35 for a 4-6 hour game though.
  • Recommended Posted April 1, 2026 on Steam I cannot remember when or where this game came into my awareness. I was young and I remember immediately being drawn to the surreal imagery and dreamlike world. I had no idea what it was about or how I would play it because videogames weren't really available to me. The name Myst eventually became a distant memory... until recently. Random impulse had me searching for this lost game, and there it was. Finally, I could step inside this strange world that had so intrigued me as a child. What a treat it has been! Experiencing nostalgia for a game I never got to play. Loved every minute of it. Highly recommend. About to install Riven after I post this. Enjoy!
