Not recommended Posted January 10, 2026 on Steam You pay for the game. Then you pay monthly so your base does not get erased. And the best part? This was advertised as subscription free. That is not a subscription. That is ransom with better marketing. Miss a payment and all your progress gets wiped. No warning. No mercy. Just hours of work gone because you did not keep paying for something you were told you would not have to pay for. That is not gameplay. That is extortion wrapped in a lie. Would refund if I could. Instead I am leaving this review so maybe someone else avoids this nonsense. Hard pass. -
Not recommended Posted December 23, 2025 on Steam This is an empty tech demo of the UE5 engine. Beautiful scenery but empty world. Nothing substantial has changed since Alpha tests 2 years ago and in some ways progress moved backwards. The company laid off 1/3 of the employees so development will move even more slowly now. The long awaited PvP combat update is PvT (Player vs Tree). Devs don't know how to program combat, so the PvP in the game centers around chopping Trees. -
Not recommended Posted January 19, 2026 on Steam At this time. After 432 hours of playing, I can not recommend this game... AS A SOLO PLAYER. Yes, I am very well aware that I could join a clan and I wouldn't be a solo player. However, I chose not to because, even a clan player can leave the game. If that player leaves the game and they have set up permissions on storage, you're locked out if you're not at the level they set. Also, if a player leaves who has plaid for a plot and doesn't renew that plot, there goes what ever building was on their plot. Too much of a hassle. So I chose to play solo. The environment is beautiful. The lighting effects are amazing. That's about all I can say. The combat is kinda clunky and after a while, you just get used to it. Now... one of my biggest gripes is this... when you go to place your plot... it's a circle. Yes, a circle. Now... here's the messed up part. If you place your circle next to a plot you already have or next to someone else, it makes that side flat... SORT OF. Okay, great. Problem is, if it's not placed JUST RIGHT, you can end up with gaps in your building area where you can not build anything. WHY DEVS? WHY? Why make plots a circle? Makes 0 sense! The other part of that being bad, if your plot is next to someone and they let their plot expire or they move, that edge becomes rounded/circle. If you had any building going on right on that edge or past it... IT'S GONE! YOU CAN NOT REBUILD THAT SECTION! Again, WHY DEVS? WHY A CIRCLE? It's actually depressing. Time and effort just gone. The crafting? Holy mother of crafting you're out of your mind! Biggest complaint... you craft items to level up that crafting profession. Say you're doing weapons. You have to craft LOTS of items to level up. Sure you can sell those items, but most are junk items just to get leveled up. Here's the messed up part of their crafting... you can NOT recycle/breakdown those items you just crafted to get mats back! You literally toss ALL THOSE ITEMS ON THE GROUND, only to let them vanish after a few minutes. Talk about wasting players time! It's a slap in the face of players. Building a home/base. I did find this part enjoyable. I really did. Leveling up carpentry took a bit of time, but it was worth it. That's about all I can say that I actually REALLY enjoyed. Building my base. Other than that... the devs NEED TO LISTEN TO THE PLAYERS! If they want this game to thrive... big AND small changes are needed! I honestly can see the potential in the game. It should not have been released as a 1.0. Needs a lot more time in the oven! -
Not recommended Posted October 15, 2025 on Steam DISGUSTING Pay scheme introduced into this game, seriously gross. You buy the game and get your 1 token to have your 1 small plot of land on the map (you can buy a different package to get more plot tokens) but what the steam page doesn't tell you is if you don't pay an extra 4 EURO each month for another token you lose your plot. Tokens cant be earned in game and there isn't much to do in the game apart from build and run your plot so if you don't pay monthly this game basically becomes a walking simulator. DO NOT BUY UNLESS THEY REMOVE THIS. -
Not recommended Posted December 31, 2025 on Steam Pathetic business decision. Charging for plots in a monthly basis? Seriously? You're in the wrong trade. Go for real estate. Used to be fun when it was slightly more early access than it is today, because you actually got to keep your stuff. I paid big money to get four plots and now they're charging monthly. Want to emphasize social aspect? Ok, but at least give players something to do while... well... socializing. By the way, you actually need people in the game so that socialization can happen, you know? Stop making terrible decisions and get some content in already, otherwise there will be no players left to socialize. And stop charging monthly for plots! We've already paid you your overpriced early access DLCs! That is abusive. This game actually had potential. -
Not recommended Posted December 6, 2025 on Steam Pax Dei had the potential to be a top of the line sandbox MMORPG, but they screwed the pooch. Visually the game is stunning and masterful. after almost 2 month of the games release it basically is still an early access game. And this is because of several reasons. 1) the Crafting system is overly "grindy" meaning that the experience points gained for the effort is ridiculous a solo player will spend months gathering materials and grinding out a skill such as Weapon or Armor smith to get to the highest levels leaving no time to play the game and explore and adventure, making it feel more like a job than a game. 2) Lack of content. With a robust back story Pax had the potential for adventure either solo or as a group. a: The developers got lazy and said they didn't want any NPC's or quests so the game is bland in that respect. b: Dungeons are all populated by the same type of "monster" The Zebians. That's it 1 of 4 enemy types in the game. Just them in various stages of difficulty. The 4 types being Animals : wild boars wolves dire wolves and bears. Inquisitors , Ghosts and the Zebians, 3) Focusing on 10% or less of their player base. That's right they have been listening to the very vocal , toxic and obnoxious minority of their player base, The obsessed PVP'ers Or as they are referred to by many of the actual gamers in the Pax community the "PVP Karen's" For the last few months before release and since release the Devs have been listening to this minority group and because of that game content and items have been removed. the Karen's whine "oh that unbalances PVP" Devs respond by removing it from the game completely. (And yes i know the Karen's are going to start jumping in and trying to trash talk and do what they do in the discord channel scream bully be utterly toxic and make lame excuses and then play the victim demanding that PVP be the center piece in a Fantasy MMORPG. But the fact remains they are in the very small minority and are nothing more than loud screaming whiney Karen's) I am a Founder player with well over 18 months into this game and I have seen this game go from something with so much potential to something people try the game spend a day or two checking out then never log back into it. It can be saved and relatively easily but unless the Mainframe team gets their heads out of the darkest parts of their lilly white.... it more than likely wont survive past 2026. And although I am not recommending the game over all I have mixed feelings about that choice. And for Petes sake quit listening to the Karens!
