Limbo + Ghibli - the puzzles are intuitive and given I've been playing games for a long time, it's so refreshing to see mechanics and ideas I haven't seen before. The game scratches the itch of simplicity, adventure, puzzle and beautiful aesthetic and sound design. To anyone who's played the first, this is an absolute no brainer, and to anyone who hasn't, play the first, then play this. It expands on the first game subtley whilst keeping the core of what made it good - which is hard to do! Such a unique great experience that I highly recommend to any and everyone.
• Recommended Posted March 8, 2026 on Steam everything from the first game, but tripled in quality. the movement is even better and more fluid, the puzzles are more fun to do, the game has more mechanics, and the story grabbed me much more. if your on the edge of buying this, buy it because its well worth the money
• Recommended Posted March 10, 2026 on Steam
Lana and Mui are back
Another good game! Surprisingly, there is some real story development happening in the later half, and by the endgame, I actually found myself pretty invested in the narrative for Lana and Mui at the end. :D Gameplay-wise, it keeps the chill vibe but introduces a few fun new mechanics like running and swimming (deep dives), which is a really nice addition to their journey. (solving puzzles) Note for new players: You don't actually need to play the first game to jump into this one. There is a very helpful recap of Lana and Mui's previous adventures right at the start. Definitely recommend it!
• Recommended Posted March 7, 2026 on Steam Unforgettable theme that plays into the story continues in this sequel. Just a beautiful game all around. Love me some story driven puzzle platformers and this one does not disappoint. Can't wait for the next installment.
• Recommended Posted March 31, 2026 on Steam
A Flower, a Pearl and a crown
To get a sequel to Planet of Lana was a surprise for me, an even bigger surprise is the absolut fair price tag it got including a discounted bundle for those who owned the first game. Its good to be back in this beautiful handcrafted world of Lana. I played the first game not that long ago. So I kinda had some fresh memories about it. I remember I loved the story and the art. The only sort of dissapointment was the repetitive gameplay. So when they announcent this sequel, including a demo, I had high hopes to get another beautiful storyline within a remarkable world bundled together with a big improvement to the gameplay. The demo proved my speculations and with that I went a bought the game day one. Today I have beaten the game. In comparision the the first one its is much easier to get 100% of the achievements. Which is neat. And yes the biggest question. The gameplay was much better as in the first installment. The variety of riddles and the variety within the control mechanic made each chapter and each level unique enough to not stall the story of the game. The game became and actuall game, where the first one felt like a disney movie with the occasional interuption to call itself a game. However the second game has some unexpected flaws. While they managed to improve the quality the story felt weaker in comparison to the first one. The game clearly stepped back in scale and danger of the first game to allow a much simpler, yet equaliy emotional story to be told. The game takes its time to allow the player to learn more about the game. To be fair it offers a glimpse of what the world outside of lana sees, offers. Yet leaves more questions than answer till the end. Lana is older and maybe a little more mature, but her impact from the first story is ignored and she is still treated as a kid. While a lot of what actually is going on is dealt with offsreen. Some plotpoints are even not fully resolved at the end. Still the interaction between Mui and Lana, there dealing with the world and its beauty and danger is still a remarkable tale to be experienced. Its just the cause for all of that and the logical quest to pursue is underwhelming. If they make a third one i hope its a little longer, much deeper and offers some answer to questions still left open at the end. For now I will enjoy the wonderfull soundtrack and wait for the future to come.
• Recommended Posted March 10, 2026 on Steam Well, it’s no surprise that Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf improves upon the first game in certain elements, particularly how amazing it looks with its pastel colors and the art style embedded into the game. However, I cannot say that the gameplay has improved much over the first one, since there isn’t much to do or interact with apart from some puzzles. I somehow feel like I liked the first one better, or at least its premise. I still remember the desert scene where you ride the robot, but in the second one I fail to recall such iconic moments. It often felt like I was always pushing the stick to the right for 30 seconds, then a cutscene appears. I move five seconds, another cutscene. Move 15 seconds, another cutscene. These constant breaks really hurt the immersion. Either they should be much less frequent, or the scenes should be presented with more grandeur instead of very short clips where the screen fades to black, returns to gameplay, and then fades again into another cutscene. It becomes quite annoying after a while. I also felt like Lana was a bit more irritating in this game and I didn’t like the main character as much. On the other hand, Mui and Temati, the robot, were excellent, and I really liked those moments and how the message was conveyed. Overall, I’m glad I played it, and I would definitely be interested in a third game and would love to see where the story goes if it ever happens, because the world will likely change completely. For me, it’s around a 7 out of 10.
