Resident Evil 7: Biohazard - Not A Hero
The third DLC for Resident Evil 7. It features the character that introduces himself as Chris Redfield at the end of the main story. "Not a Hero is a little different from the nightmare suffered by Ethan in RE7's main game. Chris has the skills, and the firepower, to get the job done. Do you have what it takes to complete the mission?"

Recommended Posted March 10, 2026 on Steam Enjoyable romp through a cave shooting zombies as the overpowered and fully armed Chris Redfield. While this DLC doesn't necissarily feel like a Resident Evil game, it takes most of the mechanics from the main game and says "what would that have been like with an automatic shotgun and a fist strong enough to punch boulders?" Thankfully the story takes place immidiately after the main scenario and wraps up Lucas's story fine, if not a bit unnexpected in terms of his affiliations, but so far as it connects to the larger canon, it's fine. Gameplay is action focussed and you have a slew of heavy firepower to tackle the now reletively weak threats that E-001 cooks up for you. Generally it feels like a tech demo for an action fps on the RE engine which I think felt good. Overall worth a run or two. Sidenote: What is up with Chris's jawline in this game? He looks like Butthead from Beavis and Butthead. -
Recommended Posted April 5, 2026 on Steam Its essentially just the main game, but you're playing boulder-puncher from RE5. Fun extra side-content if you enjoyed the main game and wanna run through it again with superhuman power. -
Recommended Posted January 7, 2026 on Steam Remember Chris Redfield? He's back, he's been hitting the gym hard, and he's here to punch mold in the face. After seven hours of being scared as helpless Ethan, you finally get to play as an actual professional with actual guns. It's cathartic. It's empowering. Lucas Baker is about to have a very bad day.| Pros: Free DLC, punching things, finally feeling competent. Cons: Still gross. Still Lucas being insufferable. Verdict: Dessert after the main course of trauma. Short, satisfying, punchy — literally. -
Recommended Posted April 7, 2026 on Steam Although it goes away from the survival horror and more into action as you play as Chris Redfield who can punch the breaks off of monsters, its a great continuation of the story. Some might have had one last piece of the puzzle from the main game, which is, what happened to Lucas? This DLCs answers that question. Worth the play, its only hour and a half at max! -
Recommended Posted April 14, 2026 on Steam ITS FREE. Hard to not recommend considering that the gameplay is pretty good, and again it free. I will say that all the characters, especially Chris, are really annoying and poorly voice acted except Lucas. This dlc ties up some loose ends regarding what happened to lucas after the base game ended. -
Recommended Posted March 1, 2026 on Steam Thoughts on the main game from ’23 Amazing experience. RE7 is an excellently made horror game. It kept getting less scary as I progressed tho, but I’d be lying if it didn’t keep my heart pounding at the start. I don’t like the fact that the bosses never die and have recurring appearances throughout the game, it takes out the fun factor a bit imo. The Molded get far less menacing/interesting to face as the game progresses. And the final act is a dud, to be frank. Overall, I absolutely loved it. Great set of characters, the story is pretty good for a Resident Evil title, and I would definitely rate this experience over any horror movie that feels backseated in comparison. End of Zoe – This was a really fun DLC. Having played Separate Ways from RE4 recently, I felt the horror aspect was completely absent, and this was exactly what was missing. Melee being the primary form of offense was a really nice departure from the main game. The quintessential switch from horror to full-blown action, like every other RE game, is also present here. You get an Iron Man-like punching gauntlet, which felt absolutely ridiculous in the best way. I remember how out of place the whole “choose Zoe vs. Mia” bit felt at the end of the main game. Obviously, Ethan would choose his wife. It’s pretty weird that Zoe was even an option. The main game really did her bad. So it was nice to see them give an actual ending to her character in this DLC. Not a Hero – Not bad at all. I’m actually liking these DLCs that have a varied flavour from the main game. Sort of underwhelming, but not overstaying its welcome at all. Watched this on YT back when I finished the game, actually playing it is much better. Banned Footage – Banned Footage is a mixed bag for me. I like the ideas behind 21 and Bedroom, but they are somewhat plagued by one major issue or the other. Really dug Daughters, but didn’t bother much with the remaining three DLCs that were arcadey. 21’s RNG was horrendous for me. Despite being like 20 odd minutes long (at least on YT), it took me an hour and a half to beat it, even if I was locked in and knew the rules. It has fun elements, but the RNG was intolerable at a point, especially in the final round. RIP Hoffman. I also felt really bad for Clancy throughout the DLCs and, of course, the main game. Canonically, he was lucky enough to get through all the BS he’s put through in these DLCs, but he still ends up dying in such disturbing fashion in the Birthday Tape 🥀. Bedroom was a really creative albeit laid back horror induced puzzle, but they had to go out of their way to hide the knife in the most obscure place imaginable. I don’t think I would’ve been able to figure out where it was hidden without watching a YT video. It can get a little frustrating to repeat it from scratch if you’ve failed, but I thought it was fun. Figuring out Mrs. Baker’s reactions once you’ve made a blunder (for the first time) while putting things back in place was actually hilarious, but it was a little buggy if you tried speedrunning it in subsequent attempts. One time, despite having everything in place, she ended up torturing me anyway, probably because I had the lock code memorised and didn’t have to do the puzzle again. Daughters was by far the best DLC imo. They give you a well thought out narrative context, getting you to empathise with all members of the Baker family, barring maybe Lucas, and the DLC is just good imo. Good enough to play it twice and unlock the true ending, though I needed some help online figuring out that it’s unlocked through that dog shaped door. Nightmare and Jack’s 55th Birthday weren’t interesting enough, and I had to stop playing them at the halfway points. Nightmare was just another obnoxious roguelite mode that you had to play multiple times to get a better inventory and eventually beat the entire thing. Unfortunately, I wasn’t having it. I wasn’t in the mood for something like that, especially since I think the gunplay in RE7 isn’t that great compared to something like RE4, where I would definitely wanna see through the Mercenaries mode someday. Didn’t even bother launching Ethan Must Die lmao. Might check that out on YT. Ranking all the DLCs (both played and unplayed 😤), it would probably go like this: Daughters > End of Zoe > Bedroom > Not a Hero > 21 > Nightmare > Jack’s 55th Birthday > Ethan Must Die. Interesting bunch of DLCs tbh, and the one thing I really like about all of them is that they’re all very distinct in flavour from each other and somehow match the tone of the main game. Instead of getting more of the same game like other DLCs, I like how unique the approach here by Capcom is.
