• Recommended Posted March 11, 2026 on Steam What a great DLC, Don't mind the negative reviews! A very heartwarming and satisfying conclusion to Ethan's story! if you liked the main game and enjoyed the story, this is for you! Also, I'd like to say to all Ethan haters that they are wrong! Ethan might be slow but he's a proper father and did everything to save his daughter Rose. Big Respect to my Mushroom Man and a real G.

But the bulk of the DLC will be “Shadows of Rose” a 3ish hour epilogue where you play as a grown-up Rose. It’s a basic premise, with Rose returning to some of the highlight locations in RE Village. The story is not advanced by much here, this DLC truly serves as an epilogue and final goodbye to the RE Village story
(with a nice little nod to RE7 as well)
. Rose plays mostly the same but she has some mold “powers” at her disposal. But even with these powers, the story is kept fairly grounded and definitely leans in hard to some psychological horror, which I greatly appreciated. My one gripe with the DLC is that playing the hardcore mode felt a little frustrating. Though the main RE village experience lets you navigate large, beautiful environments creatively, Shadows of Rose takes these environments and makes them much more linear with red goop and various obstacles limiting you to narrow pathways. I found this resulted in many awkward pinch-points where the game seemed to be encouraging you to run away, but not providing a ton of options to do so. Oddly I only found this to be the case with the “regular” enemy encounters - the boss fights felt perfectly challenging in a fair way. If you enjoyed RE Village and want to spend a little more time in the world, this is a great way to do so.
 • Not recommended Posted June 11, 2025 on Steam Quite conflicted. $20 is far too expensive, $10 is reasonable, and the Rose DLC is fun, though this entire story, IMO, got pushed to its limits. I loved Resident Evil 7's story and gameplay. Resident Evil had great moments, but also quite low ones. Ethan's story was great, and 2 games were plenty. The DLC with Rose feels so unnatural. It took me half of the DLC to be involved with Rose's story - not a great feeling. I hope we put Rose and Ethan's story to rest. It was great, but it had its time for the right amount. Pay-walling Third Person is scummy. Glad RE9 isn't doing that.
 • Recommended Posted March 31, 2026 on Steam I don't understand the criticism of this DLC. I liked the story, gameplay and not to mention some heart warming moments. Sure the places are reused from the original game but it actually goes well with the story so no complaints from me. It might have been a bit longer but it concludes Ethan's story in a good way. My advice is to buy it at a discount.
 • Recommended Posted February 8, 2026 on Steam Screw the negative reviews, Shadows of Rose was a great story play and is absolutely worth it. If you're a dad, that story will have you shedding happy tears.
Only downside I got out of it is that the ending credits were there same as the main game.
