• Recommended Posted January 11, 2026 on Steam
This is not a city builder or colony sim, rather a rogue-like resource management puzzle. And it's amazing.
As much as I love the style and vibes, it's probably giving people the wrong impression of what sort of game this is. You have limited turns each era to place down "Biotica" on limited slots. Placing down Biotica gives you resources, which helps you reach your goal, while also acting as currency to purchase powers to do more stuff. If you like resource management games which encourages player adaptability, or enjoy wombo-combo synergies, then you should try this game. As a fan of games in similar genres, I enjoyed it very much. The tutorial and unlocking of content is done really well. It even gives the option to those who want to instant unlock everything, which is nice. My only major complaint is that for a game that has an achievement to try out all the Biotica - "Master of All", there is no indication of which has a golden border in the draft/placement menus. It is really annoying to have to go through the collection every time that I ended up listing them on notepad. Please add that simple to implement QOL change. You can even add it as an option if you worry if confuses new players. Also would be nice to add option to turn off DLC in game, as I had to do to complete the "Ladies Night" achievement.
• Recommended Posted August 14, 2025 on Steam I wasn't 100% sure what I was getting when purchasing this, so to be clear - this is very much a "Puzzle Game" with a civilization & ecosystem theme. It works really well. Tons of different strategies, and depending on your approach early in a playthru it will have impact on the narrative & goals later on. Amassing more & more species of plants & animals, and varieties or minerals, is fun from a collecting standpoint but each one also opens multiple gameplay & scoring combinations. The graphics & aesthetics are a highlight. The animals & people engage in various animated behaviors as you play, some are just cosmetic but some human behaviors like caravans, exploration, raids, etc, have gameplay impacts. It makes the world feel vibrant & dynamic despite being mostly turn-based. One of my go-to "I have 1.5 hours before bed, what's something chill to play with a natural stopping point" games.
• Recommended Posted July 21, 2025 on Steam My favourite puzzle game, and only game I've had any real go at 100%ing achievements in. Only criticism I have is that I would love a high score board - whether personal or global. I need a target to beat.
• Recommended Posted April 7, 2026 on Steam An increase in complexity from the original Reus game, with a bit of a learning curve. You can tackle it with zero knowledge, and enjoy the learning experience.
• Not recommended Posted August 13, 2025 on Steam I must be missing something given the reviews because I do not enjoy this game. It looks like a god game - it even says "shape worlds with your godly titans" but what that actually means is you click "create biome" on the relevant titan to get some of that type of land. Same with placement of the animals/resources for the given biome. The titans are otherwise meaningless. It is really just a tile placement game where you min-max the placement of things to get multipliers in the score, to achieve objectives and unlock more. It's all a bit grandiose for such a simple premise, and I found it clunky, for example it is unclear knowing what is contributing to your score and what you can safely replace without going backwards (you have to keep replacing things as you upgrade the land to higher tiers to get more advanced things to place). If it was one third, or even half, the price I wouldn't submit a negative review but it's not a cheap game and I didn't get my money's worth so had to balance out the reviews with my opinion.
