  • Recommended Posted July 21, 2025 on Steam If you like to never go outside and if you only want to play the same game for 12h a day then this is for you. One of my friends plays this (Lasagna), it's been a whole year since he's touched a woman. God bless his soul. 10/10, would let it steal my friend again.
  • Not recommended Posted May 9, 2026 on Steam Don’t make the same 20-year mistake I did. Stay far away from RuneScape. If you are thinking about trying RuneScape in 2026 — don’t. I played this game for over 20,000 hours across two decades. I started as a kid in 2004 and kept coming back like a fool until Jagex finally deleted my main account for good. Here’s what actually awaits you: This company does not respect your time. The entire game is built on an archaic, soul-crushing grind that made sense when we were teenagers with nothing better to do. In 2026 it feels like psychological warfare. You will pour hundreds of hours into skills only for the game to laugh at you unless you open your wallet. The monetization is insidious. What started as a simple browser game slowly turned into one of the greediest cash shops in gaming. They spent years slowly normalizing pay-to-skip-the-grind while preaching about “game integrity.” The betrayal feels personal once you realize how much of your life you gave them. Their ban system is completely broken as of now. As a legitimate long-time players on RS3 got permanently banned for playing “too efficiently,” while sophisticated paid bots dominate OSRS with almost zero consequences. I was banned on a fully legitimate 20-year account. The hypocrisy is staggering. The community has become toxic and exhausting. A large portion of the playerbase will defend Jagex’s worst decisions like it’s a full-time job and shame anyone who dares criticize the game that’s been disrespecting them for years. I gave this company two decades of my life and loyalty. They repaid me by deleting everything I built. RuneScape is no longer a fun game. It is a predatory time sink wearing nostalgia as a costume. The magic is gone, and what’s left is a company that has clearly shown it does not care about its players. Save yourself the pain. There are better games out there that actually respect your time. Do not give Jagex another minute of your life. Rating: 1/10 Would not recommend to my worst enemy. The hours I have on here is less than 1/10th of what I actually put into it.
  • Not recommended Posted March 19, 2026 on Steam I've played RuneScape for a long time. Literally, I've had membership for nearly 20 years. Jagex recently chose to bait-and-switch some of its most loyal customers, who elected to pay for a Premium annual membership to lose a previously-promised "Grandfathered" monthly membership rate. They did it by rebranding the annual membership and converting it to a recurring subscription. They did it without notice and have refused to address the way they handled it to the community. I wish I could recommend this game, but I cannot anymore because it's impossible to trust the company anymore. Edit: note, I only have 2500 hours on Steam playing, but I have over 10,000 hours total played.
  • Recommended Posted January 20, 2026 on Steam Chill game. No one yelling, no one screaming “team diff,” no smurfs coping in low rank. Just you, your grind, and peaceful silence. RuneScape is what happens when a game lets you relax instead of turning every match into an esport meltdown.
  • Recommended Posted June 9, 2025 on Steam I have about 10,000 hours in RuneScape and if you like: Gaining xp/wealth (watching numbers go up like in idle games) Fast and engaging combat Dozens of unique bosses and a few raid/group bosses Multiple ways to play A relaxed gaming experience Skills that you can AFK Nostalgic feel of playing RuneScape again Or you just think this game looks cool and want to give it a go I will be the first to tell you to stay as far away from this game as possible. Once you start there is really no escape. You might take some time off and think you’ve quit but you’ll come back. You’ll always come back. Then, before you know it, you’ll have been playing for almost 15 years and have about 10,000 hours in the game. Honestly, playing RuneScape is like clapping. Once you start you never really stop. The intervals between playing (claps) might increase but you never truly stop. Anyways, Jagex, thanks for an alright first 10,000 hours and here’s to the next 10,000. Cheers.
  • Recommended Posted March 24, 2026 on Steam Firstly, I understand why the recent reviews for this would be leaning towards bad or mixed, due to the membership price increases. I cannot speak on the quality of the content now VS how it used to be. However, what I can speak on is how the game feels for a first time player who has not long passed 100 hours. I'm an MMO veteran, with 20+ years on WoW and 10,000s of hours across other MMOs over the years such as Guild Wars 2, Wildstar, Rift, City of Heroes etc etc. And from that perspective I can absolutely recommend this game. Hitting my 30s in the last couple of years was strange for my "gaming life", discord servers with friends that were once full are now barren and I get a couple of nights per week with friends, if that. And I found myself falling out of love with gaming in truth. That was until one friend finally mentioned runescape one random week day evening and after two decades of denying him I finally caved and downloaded it. And it may well have been one of the best gaming decisions of my life. I know I am playing the QoL'd "quick" version of RuneScape, but compared to the games I had some from it is perfectly paced, so much slower and far more relaxing than any game I have been playing of late. That way skills progress feels earned and worth while. I love that I want to do "thing a" but in order to that I need to do "thing b, c and d", so you look into "thing b" and realise you need to do "thing e and f" and so it goes on, and you find yourself having set out to slay a dragon but instead need to slaughter chickens for their feathers to make arrows. I don't know if this review has much substance outside of personal anecdotes, but what I am trying to say is despite the backlash from long term players, which may well be justified, if you are looking to explore this game with fresh eyes for the first time, then I cannot recommend it enough. It has rejuvenated my love for gaming and sent me down a rabbit hole of what I am calling, "proper games" to play, instead of the modern AAA snoozefest. In a world of instant gratification, endless scrolling and brain rot. Escape to RuneScape.. even if it is RuneScape Lite. 10/10 Recommend and will continue to give 1000s of hours to this brilliant game, that is clearly crafted by people who love it.
