Squirrel Stapler
Originally created as part of The Dread X Collection II, Squirrel Stapler is a horror hunting simulator that satirizes low budget edutainment games with pitch black humor and panic-inducing absurdist horror. A lonely man living in a remote cabin wakes up one day and realizes his beloved--a dismembered corpse nailed to the cabin wall--has been made ugly and rotten by the flies that swarm her. He wishes she were beautiful, like the squirrels of the wood. And so he sets out to hunt the squirrels of the wood, so that he might staple them to her and make her beautiful again. But that is easier said than done. A sinister presence lurks in the deep forest, and it has only one rule: "Thou shalt not staple squirrels!"

Recommended Posted January 5, 2026 on Steam A game called Squirrel Stapler leaves more emotional impact for me than any high budget games by Activision and Ubisoft games. -
Recommended Posted November 22, 2025 on Steam I really did not think I'd enjoy this. I don't like horror games. Also, it isn't a very attractive game, so what exactly am I playing it for...? Turned out I really liked it. It fits into the narrow band of horror that I can enjoy, a sort of absurd / surreal that isn't really aiming to be scary. The hunting isn't bad. And I hate squirrels. I can't remember if I hated them before playing this game, but I hate them now. -
Not recommended Posted June 13, 2025 on Steam Contrary to what the negative review may be saying, I don't hate davids work, in fact I love all his games for their gameplay, story, visual style and sound design and hell I even like this game with it's humor, cryptic lore and concept. The reason why it's a thumbs down is because this was originally an arcade game bundled in with other games in a game collection, therefore you couldn't really expect a decently sized game. So you would expect that the official standalone version of the game would be way more flesh out and have more things to see and do. unfortunately that's not the case, the game is simply too short and the full release doesn't really expanded upon the original game aside from some minor additions that don't really enhance the story telling or gameplay in a meaningful or fun way and there's no real reason to replay it unless you missed the collectibles and want to see the special mode you unlock. One the comparisons to this game could be Iron lung, but what made Iron lung work was the fact that the game had enough info you could find and a whole terminal you could ask questions to about topics that could be in the lore and with that you could come up with some conclusive story and what role you have but here you have only really scraps to work with which leaves you with more questions than answers I would like to close off by saying that I'm not here try and make you not buy the game and if you enjoy it, more power to you but I personally feel there could have been so much more and squirrel stapler isn't a bad game, it was just poorly expanded on arcade game that needs more to be considered worth the price -
Recommended Posted January 19, 2026 on Steam Squirrel Syapler is a truly odd game. I had to play it twice to grab all the collectibles, and once you realize you can tank damage, you basically become unstoppable. one thing that really got to me in both playthroughs was my dead wife whispering in my ear and haunting me while I’m out trying to kill squirrels to… build her a new human-squirrel body? At the same time, though, we apparently have some kind of vendetta against squirrels? Its a good game honestly Recommend Also big mode wasn’t lying. It’s big
