  • Recommended Posted March 14, 2026 on Steam I bought this game thinking it was a peaceful underwater exploration game. 🌊 First 10 minutes: β€œWow, beautiful fish, coral reefs, relaxing music.” 30 minutes later: WHAT WAS THAT SOUND 1 hour later: I hear a distant roar. The water turns dark. Something large moves in the distance. Then I meet the love of my life: Reaper Leviathan This creature’s hobbies include: screaming directly into your soul grabbing your submarine giving you permanent psychological trauma Meanwhile the game expects you to calmly build a base while your brain is screaming: β€œTHERE IS A 50 METER DEMON FISH SOMEWHERE IN THIS OCEAN.” Also oxygen is apparently optional until it isn’t. Nothing compares to the panic of: OXYGEN: 10… 9… 8… while you’re stuck in a cave like an idiot. Pros: beautiful ocean world incredible exploration terrifying sea monsters Cons: I am now scared of the ocean I hear Leviathan noises in my sleep 10/10 Would willingly crash on Planet 4546B again. 🌊

  • Recommended Posted April 23, 2026 on Steam great game, i love how its so beginner friendly as you can find loot caches at the back of the large spaceship and at the very edge of the maps. If you are having trouble progressing just go in a random direction until it says you have entered the ecological death zone (this means that there are no dangerous creatures) and there you will eventually find an upgrade for your system which will begin to leave tips for further progression into the game. Goodluck! <3
  • Recommended Posted July 16, 2025 on Steam [b] I support the original game developers of Subnautica, but I do NOT support KRAFTON for their scummy actions, and I will NOT be buying Subnautica II or anything from those scumbags! You fired the founders of Unknown Worlds, Charlie Cleveland and Max McGuire, as well as Chief Executive Officer Ted Gill and you are delaying Subnautica 2 just to avoid paying the bonus to the developers. • Recommended Posted April 18, 2026 on Steam Pros: + Sounds and music are outstanding + Great design of flora and fauna, absolutely gorgeous game world with data entries explaining life on the planet. + Simple crafting system and easy to use. + Exploration of the unknown is top notch + Ambience and atmosphere is crazy awesome + Doesn't hold your hand. You gotta find out yourself what you have to do. + All the vehicles are just so much fun in their own way and customisable! + Base building is the greatest + Ranges from fun tropical paradise, through mysterious and alien, to murky horror. + Lots of tools at your disposal with different purposes. + Really good story despite a silent protagonist and lack of characters and dialogue. + A huge ocean to explore. With the right gear and sub you can go pretty deep. + So many small details and things to discover that aren't necessary to the game but are simply awesome. + Modding support Cons: - Some resources are damn hard to find. - Single save slot for a game - I think a craftable tool to allow for mapping out your surroundings for reference would have helped greatly rather than relying on memory and beacons constantly for waypoints. - no multiplayer or co-op - The primary weakness of the game is that the magic of the first playthrough fades, as most of the games charm comes from the fear of the unknown. This makes replayability somewhat worse than expected. - Lack of minimap (there is a mod for that) Recommended start : do not read any guidelines, go in as blind as you can get Happy diving!
