Recommended Posted November 8, 2025 on Steam The game has been out for 36 hours and I have 16 hours of gameplay already which probably means I have too much free time on my hands. It also means that I'm having an insane amount of fun scrapping and powering up bases. I'm sure there's a story line here. I've heard pieces of it... but I'm more obsessed with wiring things at the moment. This is the type of game I get lost in. It's zen. Clear out some weird creatures. Run some wires around like a mad man. Plop down some batteries and power generation stuff. Lights go on. Props get thrown in the wood chipper to get resources to activate the next base. Is that the point of the game? Probably not. Is it my point in playing the game? Definitely. The game is a little rough here and there. It's crashed on me once, and there have been some FPS hitches and the like, which one expects from an early access game. But the core gameplay loop I'm involved in here is like crack for my brain. 9/10 would recommend. If a future update brings a sick fog horn to my boat, I will then see this as a 10/10 experience. -
Recommended Posted November 8, 2025 on Steam This game is like crack cocaine for nerds. You are/have: - playing a robot, no one expects any level of EQ or empathy or mindfulness from you. - all alone, everyone is dead, no interaction required, no meat bags around - lots of stuff to pick up / clean up - no time pressure and barely any "enemies". Update: Ok, some enemies, but you will have the means to deal with them. - Recycler - Boxes to sort things into - Your own ship! - can create stuff out of thin air! - physics is sweet - Looks good too. Question to the devs: - Can you guys please add a pressure washer? K THX Adieu, RL! -
Recommended Posted December 5, 2025 on Steam After spending an embarrassing amount of time playing this game, 200+ hrs (I decided to restart once I played through the main mission and had a better understanding of how everything worked), I have to admit it's going to be one of my all time favs. I've been looking for something to scratch that subnautica itch and I think this game is going to surpass it when all is said and done. The Good: The graphics and mechanics are pretty good so far. Some tweaks need to be done but nothing major. The storyline and concept are very interesting. It's open world with very little direction for those of you who, like me, like to explore and figure stuff out on their own. And the devs have been pretty responsive. This game has been out for a month and there's been one patch and an update is coming in a couple of weeks with new content and fixes for some known issues. The Bad: Busted physics. Most of the time the physics is fantastic. However, sometimes the boat suddenly launches into the sky or sinks. Or the boat gets stuck on a small piece of trash in the water. It's only happened to me once but some people have complained about it happening to them often. It's not game breaking but is for sure annoying. Restarting or scrapping trash usually fixes it. It does crash occasionally (about a dozen times in 200 hours) but you can set your auto save to every 5 minutes so you don't lose much. A lot of the other bad (more content, more memories, different kinds of transport) is scheduled to be released early next year. The Ugly: There are some optimization issues that make it jittery at times and some rendering issues but I expect this will get better with the next updates. Whether this is good or bad depends on what kind of games you like but it is very repetitive. Sail to a station. Fight some bugs. Turn on the power. Scrap everything. Repeat. For me it's gaming crack. For an early access, I think it's pretty good. If you buy and EA, there are going to be bugs. I've never played an EA without them, ranging from minor to game breaking. Heck, I've had less issues with this game than I did with Fallout 4 years after it was released! And that's from a major studio, not an indie publisher. If you want a polished game with smooth play through and no interruptions, don't buy an EA. The price point is on the higher end for an EA. The main mission is about 20 hours if you don't explore at all. If you go to all the locations on the map, try to find all the hidden locations in the poi, it's 100+. And the road map for the games suggests there will be quite a bit more content to come. So, is it worth it? I think it depends on what kind of gamer you are. If you only want do main missions, don't like to explore for explorings sake, then yeah, it's probably a bit pricey. -
Recommended Posted May 4, 2026 on Steam Caretaker the game. The name says it all. I've put in 65+ hours into this game and most of that has been 'wasted' on cable managements and site maintenance. And I couldn't be happier. As the dad to a preschooler I don't get a lot of me time so my gaming hours are few and far between, yet somehow this game has taken 65+ hours of my time. I find myself playing until 1 am or even 3 am and I haven't done that in years, I just don't have that kind of time but I am obsessed. I want to fix these systems, I want to recycle, I want to focus on efficiency and productivity. I've been trying to think about how best to talk about this game because I don't often write reviews. I love setting a course and then leaving the bridge, I go below deck to organize and maximize, I head to the top deck to do regular maintenance on my wind turbines. And I focus on cable managements. The game doesn't penalize you for just running a cable and it is the most efficient way to do things, but I find myself obsessed with running cables along the walls and out of the way, I will breakdown the existing equipment to organize them properly, line them up neatly and run straight lines. I have barely scratched the surface and I am in no rush. -
Recommended Posted November 20, 2025 on Steam I really enjoy this game and would love to see a multiplayer option in the future. Even a simple 2-player co-op mode would already make the experience so much better. -
Recommended Posted November 24, 2025 on Steam Over 54 Hours. yeah i like this too much. Good god this is addictive., I must progress, I must save Humanity, Also i love heading to Sea to find more supplies, more exploration, more adventure. the freedom to explore, create, build i simply adore the graphics, the sunsets are surreal. No crashes to desktop since release, the odd random anchor issue and having to reload a save as it sometimes does no show power in an area where there is power, a reload solved it. Simply Great times and fun.
