Not recommended Posted March 15, 2026 on Steam DO NOT BUY // DO NOT BUY // DO NOT BUY OpenTTD (fan made, open source remake) was taken off the storefront by Atari when this game released, and relisted behind a paywall on steam despite being developed independently with ZERO shared code and still being available for free elsewhere (at least until Atari tries to paywall those too). Atari (or rather the French """investment""" bank that masquerades at Atari) can, and should, eat my entire ass and everyone should go to Atari's publisher page, click the cogwheel and 'ignore this creator' so they wont show up in your storefront anymore. let OpenTTD back on the store if you want this review updated. -
Not recommended Posted March 15, 2026 on Steam Shameless cashgrab from Atari, play OpenTTD instead, IS WHAT I WOULD SAY IF ATARI DID NOT STRONGARM OPENTTD (which was free before this release on steam) INTO REQUIRING US TO BUY TTD TO GET OPENTTD, Mind you, it would have been okay if OpenTTD required any asset from the base game or even if it used any of the original asset, but since many years, OpenTTD is free of any possible claim from the original game, and play so much better than this emulated dumpsterfire of a cashgrab. -
Not recommended Posted March 16, 2026 on Steam EDIT: Regarding the "clarification", twisting a arm and asking to be thankful that it didn't break, is not, and will never be, acting in good will. Things would only change if this becomes a normal videogame release. In other words: with no strings attached. --- Release done in bad faith. I just wanted the original game, as I never had the chance to buy it on the 90s. if Infogrames just released it and not attack OSS, they would get the reaction and sales they've wanted. But alas, the Atari's corpse just want to enshitify what they bought... -
Not recommended Posted March 15, 2026 on Steam terrible cash grab, the only things upgraded for the modern age is the intro and exit menu, and is where you'll spend the most time. -
Not recommended Posted March 17, 2026 on Steam Atari are practically forcing you to buy this game if you want to play OpenTTD. It appears as if they forced the OpenTTD developers to delist the game from Steam and only include it in a paid bundle with this game... I encountered 2 bugs and 1 QOL problem in the first 30 seconds of playing this piece of ♥♥♥♥. Just play OpenTTD, it's better and it's also free on their website (and included in the package managers of most Linux distributions). Edit: The OpenTTD team made an additional comment on the situation, stating that they were not forced to list the game along with TTD, and that "Additionally, as part of the discussions we held, Atari agreed to make a contribution towards the running costs of our server infrastructure". However, the developers also commented the following ( link ):
"Just to clarify, as I've seen this mentioned a few times: we do not make any money by being listed on Steam (either individually or as part of a bundle) . Any income that we receive (which goes towards our server infrastructure) is purely from donations made on openttd.org."
-
Not recommended Posted March 27, 2026 on Steam This is a total scrap and desperate attempt to squeeze a couple of $ from the fans of the original game. I urge everyone to vote for this game removal from Steam. It's a SCAM. It's a trash. Don't even try this ***t. The publisher will be burned in Hell for such a disgusting behavior towards fans. Go and get OpenTTD from the Internet if want this simulator. OpenTTD is MUCH MUCH MUCH better, opensource, free for all and a Must Have. ~~~~SHAME ON YOU, ATARI~~~
