  • Recommended Posted December 8, 2025 on Steam Bought this to kill an hour while waiting for a friend. That was 8 hours ago. Friend is gone. Life is trash. But my trash? My trash is immaculate. Started playing "just to see what it's about" and suddenly it's 3am and I'm genuinely upset that I can't find a proper cork stopper for this mushroom person who's been patiently waiting at my window for 20 in game days. I have 47 bedpans but NOT ONE CORK. This is my life now. The gameplay loop is dangerously addictive chisel away dirt blocks to find trinkets, scrub them clean (so satisfying), then either sell them or fuse them with other junk to make slightly fancier junk. It's basically digital archaeology meets thrift store simulator meets "why is cleaning virtual items more enjoyable than cleaning my actual apartment?" No stress, no timers, no angry customers threatening to leave bad Yelp reviews. Just you, your goblin self, and an endless parade of quirky characters who desperately need a prosthetic wooden hand or a very specific type of lamp. The bedpan collector's storyline had me more invested than most AAA game plots. My only complaint is that my entire shop is now 90% organized chaos of items I'm "definitely going to need later" sprawled across every available surface. But hey, that's pretty on-brand for a trash goblin. Perfect for, People who enjoy organizing their inventory more than actual gameplay, PowerWash Simulator veterans looking for their next zen fix, and anyone who's ever spent 3 hours at a thrift store and came home with nothing but somehow had the time of their life. TL;DR: One goblin's trash is another goblin's treasure, but mostly it's just my trash and I'm not sharing.
  • Not recommended Posted February 22, 2026 on Steam I have mixed feelings about this game. On one hand I would kill and die for Donoval, but on the other hand that's kind of all this game has. I think I wanted more goblin-ness; if you changed the name to "trinket gnome", literally nothing in this game would change. From a game titled Trash Goblin, I was kind of hoping for a trash goblin experience. It also crashes somewhat regularly for me. It is certainly fine for turning your brain off and just chilling for a while, but I have more satisfying cozy games that meet that need. For full price, I can't recommend this game.
  • Not recommended Posted December 25, 2025 on Steam This is more of a visual novel disguised as a shop simulator. If you’re looking for a shop management game, but don’t enjoy visual novels, I’d recommend staying away from this one. Since the shop mechanics are very barebones. The entire gameplay consists of clicking on cubes shown in the trailer, with no added depth or variation. During my playthrough, I also ran into several UI issues. Dialogue options sometimes failed to appear, were misaligned, and sometimes they were hidden behind other UI elements, making them annoying to navigate. I also encountered the same recurring bug where triggering a main story quest at the market prevents any further customers from arriving afterwards.
  • Not recommended Posted April 8, 2026 on Steam Idk if it's just me, but hasn't really captured my attention past what was shown in the demo. Money is too slow to come by when it will take 10+ sales at ~2 a day to buy a shelf or 2 slots to store more trash, most characters are nameless strangers, upgrades are minor and do not meaningfully improve or elevate the gameplay, and progression is time consuming and driven by RNG to get scraps of content. I think I'd rather go back to impatiently waiting for Restory tbh
  • Not recommended Posted July 2, 2025 on Steam I'm truly upset that I can't recommend this game, but I really can't. On paper, this is right up my alley. A shop management game where you find, clean, repair, and sell trinkets to fantasy world customers? Sign me up! But in practice, the game just doesn't have any depth. Rather than having to go out and dig or hunt for artifacts, they're just randomly handed to you from a bottomless bag one at a time. Then you have to painstakingly chisel them out of a bland, repetitive block breaking game. Then you clean them in a much less fun version of Power Wash Simulator. Then you might combine them with another item. One of the worst things about this game is that after all that, you just kind of hand it to the customer. No haggling or anything. There's no sense of urgency or fail state, so it really doesn't even matter how much money you get from them. Upgrading tools hardly feels worth it, and the game as a whole seems to lack purpose. Now for some, the lack of a failure state might be a good thing. Some people might just find this experience zen and relaxing, which is fine. But for me, I need that extra layer of crunch where all the mechanics feed into each other and draw me in. I don't need the game to be difficult or anything, but I need some sense of urgency driving me forward. Technically I don't even need the failure state. Potion Craft didn't have a failure state, but it did have an extremely deep and complex potion brewing system. Trash Goblin just doesn't have anything like that. In my 50 minutes I played before requesting a refund I did detect some decent writing, though not much of an overarching story, which is also disappointing. I did like the colorful artwork and the art design though. Good work there. Some people will fall in love with this in spite of its shortcomings, but that can't be me. still, I can tell the developer put a lot of love and care into this title. I hope it does well and they can come back with something stronger next time.
  • Recommended Posted June 16, 2025 on Steam A super cute and cozy fantasy experience of taking bits and bobs to cobble into...things. Weird things. Art, even. Tea kettle with a doll's leg for a handle? Someone wants to buy it. Wizard's staff with lute on the end? Someone wants to buy it. Chamber pot with a mask for a lid and the mask has gems for eyes and a succulent in the middle of the forehead? Oh, you KNOW someone wants to buy THAT. I probably could have cleared the game in half the time, but the fun is in taking your items and going hog wild with them. There's no financial pressure outside of saving to buy tool upgrades, so you're free to futz around at your own pace. I'll probably even dip back into it every now and then just to mess with things. Could do with a post-game freeform mode that just gives you access to all the parts, but maybe that's on their roadmap?
