Recommended Posted March 22, 2026 on Steam I'm a simple guy. My boy Civvie shills a boomshoot, I need to play it. On a more serious note: I very much recommend it. It's interesting how good the gameplay works with the limitations the devs set themselves. -
Recommended Posted July 26, 2025 on Steam Among all the retro shooters I’ve played, Wizordum feels the most like a game from an alternate timeline. A timeline in which we never made the jump to full 3D graphics, so we just kept refining the technology (and game design concepts) we already had. That’s why Wizordum doesn’t have room-above-room rendering, just like Doom (or, at least, Wizordum doesn’t really use it in its level design). And it’s why its graphics look highly refined, but still stick closely to the aesthetic sensibilities of something like Wolfenstein 3D. Just consider that the game has a suitably bombastic soundtrack, but treasure pickups still do a little ‘signature sound’ whenever you grab them; as if in our alternate timeline, we moved away from MIDI music, but still stuck with the idea that everything you pick up should make a little Commander Keen ‘pling-plong’ sound. Personally, I feel the game’s straightforward old-school design can make it feel a bit dull if you play it for long stretches of time, but that’s probably down to my personal preferences. If you’re fine with a shooter that focuses entirely on fighting and secret-hunting on pretty intricate maps laid out entirely on a 2D plane, and you don’t need fancy ‘modern’ stuff like friendly NPCs, stealth systems and so on, then Wizordum is absolutely worth a try! -
Recommended Posted September 6, 2025 on Steam Wizordum is proof that even with a map, you can still get hopelessly lost like a medieval GPS signal just gave up on you. The levels are a labyrinth designed by someone who clearly hates straight lines and logical directions. The map? Oh, it’s there. It just might as well be a Picasso painting of hallways and portals, because half the time you’re spinning in circles wondering if you’re in the dungeon or inside a magical IKEA showroom. “Exit?” More like surprise miniboss behind three locked doors you don’t remember seeing before. And yet… it’s fun. Every dead end is another chance to blast goblins, collect shiny loot, and question your sense of direction. By the time you find the way out, you feel like you’ve actually earned a PhD in Wizordum Cartography & Mild Panic Attacks. -
Recommended Posted April 2, 2026 on Steam Hereticdoomenstein 3D: Atomic Edition. Very literally that, including no jumping, and second to last difficulty for normal runs. For those of you who don't know what that means, it means it's good and you should buy it. -
Recommended Posted April 23, 2026 on Steam By far the most POLISHED boomer shooter on steam! I knew this game is gonna be good before i bought it, BUT its even better than expected! The gameplay is smooth, the game offers you BUNCH of weapons, items, spells etc. Its actually hexen / heretic but in modern! You can even choose between 3 different classes like in hexen / heretic! The music is soooo beautiful and makes me very nostalgic because some songs remind me of star wars, lord of the rings and even some anime like shield hero. The music in the 3rd level i think made me speechless. Its not even a real song its just ambience which sounds soooo nice and calm. The OST's in this game are 11/10. Level design is great and i haven't complained even about the sewer level even tho most people including me dislike sewer levels usually. You got a map which even tells you where to go which is a good thing in my opinion. I played bunch of boomer shooters and i'd personally say this game has by far the best level design. AMID EVIL and CULTIC also have very good level design but Wizordum takes the cake! Enemies are fun and the best part is when you play on higher or highest difficulty they don't get more HP which is AMAZING. No one likes bullet sponge enemies. Im doing my first playthrough on highest diff and im having a good time! The game has a small community, level editor and a workshop so there replayability is endless! Also game has TONS.. like TONS of secrets. IF you like hunting for secrets then you'll love this game. Anyway, its worth it like every Apogee release! Im a simple man, i see Apogee release, i buy. -
Recommended Posted September 13, 2025 on Steam Dear game developer, How are you doing today? I hope you are well! I am doing SIGNIFICANTLY better after playing your game. The care to detail and the love put into this experience is felt in every step my fierce cleric took. I am proud of the game you have bestowed upon us, and you should be, too. I may have only spent about 2 hours in this game, but I am eagerly looking forward to more. You should keep doing whatever you are doing because you are doing it well. 9/10. Not quite a masterpiece, but well on its way. Keep it up. PLEASE. Love, Lucius Light
