Not recommended Posted April 29, 2026 on Steam 4K hours on the wargaming launcher, player since closed beta, and I cannot recommend you play this game. Current Azur Lane event is the absolute pinnacle of Wargaming's unbridled greed, putting lootboxes INSIDE lootboxes is a sin that puts you on par with the anti-christ. Terrible event, do not play this game or any of wargaming's products -
Not recommended Posted February 7, 2026 on Steam Good core game ruined by terrible monetization, a poor match making algorithm (the best and worst players can be put into the same game, no skill based MM) and tons of FOMO events designed to drain both your ingame resources and your wallet. Many important ships are permanently removed from sale and unobtainable for new players (or only obtainable for $1000s of usd by whaling during limited windows in loot boxes), this includes well known historical boats and meta defining ships. WoWs is a gacha game with worse pull rates than any actual gacha, zero reasonable pity mechanics and banners that permanently leave. -
Not recommended Posted September 29, 2025 on Steam To all the players of World of Warships, I believe everyone has noticed the recent changes in the in-game economy, whether it's for anniversary celebration, plot battle, random battle, special modes, dockyard, battle pass, sequential bundles or armory. Wargaming is continuously pushing the boundaries and testing the limits of its players. If you are familiar with the game "War Thunder," you probably know the consequences when game developers constantly provoke their player base. As players of this game, we contribute to its activity, and in theory, Wargaming should appreciate each and every one of us who continues to support and encourage this game. However, Wargaming keeps pushing the boundaries and exploiting each and every one of us. This recent eighth anniversary is not just a simple anniversary, Wargaming is gradually making it clear that if you don't pay for this game, you don't deserve to play it. I implore every player here to bravely stand up and resist this behavior. Wargaming has now infringed upon our rights as players, and we cannot, and should not, let Wargaming continue to exploit us in the future. It is time for us players to unite and stand together. We should be a collective, a class, opposing Wargaming's exploitation and oppression towards us. We are here to enjoy this game, to find joy in it, and we should not be working for Wargaming. I hope that each player will save and spread this message. This post will undoubtedly be deleted, but we should copy it, share it, on any platform, anywhere that allows us to make our voices heard. Fellow warriors, let's fight for our future. Stay strong! Stop recharging, leave your criticism! -
Not recommended Posted May 6, 2026 on Steam I must say, the recent changes, as well as the future changes to come have spelled out a grim fate for this game. The recent azure lane event has revealed just how far this companies greed goes, but also their plans for asymmetrical (PvE) have me concerned. They reduced credits and experience gain in this mode. They also announced via a recent dev blog that they will be removing that game mode and placing it in a mode rotation. Asymmetrical is the very reason me and my friends play. It’s also the most popular game mode. It’s safe to say that player mobility is under attack and when asymmetrical goes, so shall me and my three friends. I supported Wargaming for a long time and across multiple platforms. I can no longer justify supporting them now, and neither should you. -
Recommended Posted January 24, 2026 on Steam
OK as long as you are careful NOT to spend any money
If you spend money on this game, it will quickly become a life-ruining money-sink because that is what it is designed to do. However, if you are careful not to spend anything, it's an OK game that is actually much more generous in what you can get for free than most live-service trash. Think of this like a casino that gives away free breakfast in the hopes that you will start gambling once you are there. If you are careful only to eat the free breakfast and never buy a drink or gamble, you can get something out of it but if you start gambling, it will ruin your life. Don't spend money on this game and ESPECIALLY don't buy the gamble-boxes which are so manipulative and life-ruining that they ought to be illegal. Don't try to recruit your friends or engage in any of that other life-destroying MLM-style behavior the corpos running this game try to promote either. Just play the game, have fun, and don't let the corpos running it turn you into a bad person. -
Not recommended Posted October 19, 2025 on Steam I have been a fan of World of Warships for ten years. It is a true gem, telling the story of naval fleets and warships, allowing players to dream and admire the art and engineering of these incredible vessels. Since childhood, I have been fascinated by the navy, and for me, World of Warships was a true discovery — a whole new world where I got lost for many years. I loved studying ships and their history, and when the game first appeared, I registered almost from its very birth. Immersing myself in this world of history and adventure was magical. Over time, however, the game began to decline — slowly but steadily. This became especially noticeable after the complete move to the European server. Numerous inconveniences appeared. For example, in certain battle types — cooperative and asymmetric — players using destroyers and cruisers often have an advantage, while others face difficulties. The balance is disrupted, and instead of simply enjoying naval battles, players are forced to select specific ships and use special mechanics just to keep up. This partially applies to random battles as well. Problems also appeared with the Support Center. There were inconsistencies in information about gift and loot boxes — for example, regarding the chances of receiving ships or valuable items. The developers partially addressed this by showing how many boxes are needed before a guaranteed ship drop. Yet the inconveniences remain. Previously, responses to inquiries came almost the same day; now it can take weeks. And even when a reply arrives, it is often purely formal — it does not reveal the essence of the issue, does not take the specific situation into account, and does not lead to a solution. Many issues remain unchanged. As a lover of history — especially the history of the German navy — I owned almost all German ships available in the game. Many of them I purchased with real money to complete my collection. In addition, I bought many other ships — those I liked, that had historical significance, or that were designed with care and imagination. And now, though it pains me, I realize it is time to free myself from this pleasant addiction and part with all of it. Today, the game no longer considers the interests of veteran players who have supported it for years. It has lost its customer-oriented nature. World of Warships calls itself free-to-play, but the pressure to spend is growing — and the costs are higher. Even my long-term premium subscription now offers far fewer benefits than before. All these factors have led me to one conclusion: after ten years, I understand that the game has run its course. I would like to say “thank you,” but, alas, I cannot. Those who do not change — who stop listening and evolving — are destined to fade into oblivion. Yet I remain sincerely grateful to the people — the original team — who created this game. My deepest gratitude and respect to everyone who gave life to this project. World of Warships is a remarkable and beautiful creation for true admirers of naval history and the fleet. But to the current management, I must say: you are not professionals, and your actions are destroying the soul of this game. It is time to free myself from this pleasant addiction. Farewell.
